He's barely good enough for the NFL. He'll probably be 3rd on the depth chart at best.

He's a decent failsafe. Considering that Leftwich has been out most of two years, Dixon was out a lot of last year and never did anything and Batch is very very very old, they need someone to be a viable back-up/spot starter. In that role, Smith could be useful.

I was going to say, he can't be worse than what they have now.
Whatever happened to Dennis Dixon?

Usually have 4 QB in camp......and Leftwich is still around to maybe sign. I really dont think batch can stick around any longer so maybe ben, dixon and smith or leftwich?

lol, you said he should be starting for the 49ers or somewhere else in the league. Our point was if he was good enough to start anywhere, he wouldn't be 3rd string in Omaha. You haven't proved anything. You think he has a good chance to beat out Roethlisberger this offseason?

Good you brought this up anyway. Didn't you also say you'd wait until Smith played a full season and did something in the playoffs? OOPS.

look back. I made the comment he should be starting for the 49ers before the season started and in the first few weeks, and then I said I was wrong because Harbaugh has saved Alex Smith. I said he belongs in the league, not that he should be a starter somewhere else in the league, which you dipshits gave me shit for all season because he was the back up for a UFL team or some shit that doesnt matter. I also never said he will start for Pittsburgh, quit trying to put words in my mouth.

I looked back.

"Yep. Lets see how good the 49ers are this year LOL. The only way they have a somewhat close to .500 record is because they play in the weakest division in the NFL. "

I never said I didnt say that, I said I was wrong. What dont you get? I wasn't wrong about thinking TS is an NFL caliber player. Which all of you losers were.

Anyways, try to keep on topic. This thread is about Troy Smith, not the 49ers. Exactly what has been wrong with this board lately.

Sorry, you called out several people and used rumors of him signing with the Steelers to prove that he's an NFL caliber QB.

"Smith starts, guaranteed. Unless they run the triple option. "

Did he start any games for Omaha?

Those are some great quotes you pulled out, Lotz. I like how he's attempting to shove shit in our face but does his best to deflect when you return the favor.

Anyways, the Steelers also just signed Walter McFadden, Tyler Beiler, David Gilreath and Jimmy Young. Throw Troy Smith's name in amongst those players.

Haha, very true. But if they are snagging a journeyman QB from the UFL to play in our secondary we have a lot more problems than I originally thought.
