At what age did you officially move out of your parent’s home?

Note: going to college and coming back in the summer is not moving out officially..

Between my junior and senior year that summer I worked in the steel mills and made some nice cash. Save that up and got a part time job during school, just about 3 months before the end of my senior year, I moved out of my house and got an apartment with three other guys. (Party hard in those three months Oh! Man the stories about apartment wife’s and single professional).

I was then drafted 4 months after high school graduation and never moved back.

I wish looking back the parties was great and the good time where memorable but in the end it cost me a life time hurt, pain and regrets.

I moved out when I was 18 and was gone for six years. I moved back in and am currently still there. I won't lie...I kinda love it. My parents are great and it's freeeeee. I'd love to move out and be a real, responsible adult in the near future, but I am pretty content for the time being. They joke about me leaving but secretly my mom is going to be super lonely when I am gone.

I moved out the day I got married at 20 yrs old. I was still in college, but we got our own apartment, just couldn't think about banging my wife all the time in the room next to my parents.

Money was tight, but we got through it ;).

20.The only thing my momma pays is my cell bill, and thats only until my contract is up. It sucks, but I enjoy the feeling of being independant.

Based on your definition, I was 20--I didn't come home from college that summer, so I guess I officially moved out then. I was married at 21 and off the parental teat for sure at that point, but "moving out" for college students is kind of a fluid concept.

I can't imagine what it'd be like to move back in with my parents. At this point, it's much more likely that they'll end up moving in with us than the other way around.

23, as soon as I had a stable enough job to be able to move out. The day after I moved out my sister and her 2 toddlers moved back in so it was for the best.

I have the same feeling. Buying a bigger house in Houston because of it.

Same as FFT - (20). Didn't come back home after my sophomre year of college, as I worked and went to school in Columbus year around after that. Moved to Boston after I graduated.

The thing of it is, I got along very well with my parents when I was home. It wasn't that I was desparate to get out - I just had a really good work situation in C-bus, and took advantage of it to knock out two more quarters at tOSU during those two summers.
