Why move it? It's purpose is to archive problematic threads without shutting down the conversation or deleting them.

Forums work surprisingly similar to real life. Do you go to another place to have a pissing match? No, you don't. No one is going to be like "Wow, I really am pissed at ETB, I'm going to go in the basement and start ranting about how lame ETB is because I'm allowed to do that there and nowhere else".

I don't see why they wouldn't, if there were strict rules mandating it. Someone rags on sleeper in a forum other than the basement, then they get an infraction point. If I call you stupid in one post, that's one thing. But if I continue to call you stupid, in every single post you post, then that's another.

Every forum I'm on that has a basement/kitchen whatever, everyone uses it for call outs and shit like that.

There is something to the old adage keep your friends close and your enemies closer but seems to me that experiment was tried before somewhere and failed pretty miserably.

I don't know if I can fix the issues at hand, but I do know how to moderate. Despite not modding for a while, I've learned plenty about how to do it properly and I probably have more experience than any moderator on here. The problem would arise is that backlash from bringing on an alleged troll as a moderator.

What I do know is that the current moderator staff isn't doing a good enough job, and the rules environment is lacking at best. I've offered solutions, hopefully they are implemented.

I actually have a good amount of experience moderating forums. To tell you the truth, the politics forum on this website is cake compared to what I dealt with on a local car forum. Imagine, a forum where everyone is within 25 miles of each other. Shit could get out of hand REALLY fast if the forum was not HEAVILY moderated. The perceived "problems" here are nothing more than just trying to stay on topic in topics and not having it turn into a yelling match. Imagine having to monitor every tiny thing said in every single thread, because of proximity, there is a chance of people taking things physical IRL,

So, you moderated a car forum that conisted of all your friends. Essentially you moderated a car forum with 3 members, including yourself.

Agreed. The politics forum stays on topic and keeps a majority of the personal attacks to a minimum. The pre-thread approval needs to be stopped. If a thread is posted that's terrible, it can be dealt with later. Having a pre-approval process robs time sensitive topics from being discussed.

Same shit that people fight about on here, basically nothing. It's also a site where a lot of races, track and street, used to be set up.

Do these other forums you "moderate" allow you to single out certain members, argue/insult them and break the rules that you enforce like you do on here? I'm just curious. Some days you absolutely suck as a moderator...the worst of the worst. Other days you're alright.

Honestly, the only person I've seen reasonable moderation from on this forum is Fly4Fun. I don't remember what I posted, but I received an infraction for it and an explanation...and it was reasonable. I honestly think Fly4Fun (as much of a dicktard as he is sometimes) is the only moderator who has shown he is capable of moderating justly on this site.

He does a good job of moderating, but he's largely inconsistent and doesn't apply his reasoning to all members of the forum. He even admitted that he's biased on purpose so that he can't be called out for being biased towards Ohio State.

Being inconsistent is a huge flaw, almost as bad as not moderating at all.

.
You realize I only moderate the Politics forum, correct? I'm not sure you ever even post in there....therefore not even knowing how I am as a moderator.

Your name is purple. That's how I knowzit. So if you're not posting in the forum you moderate in, anything goes, you don't have to be respectful and just of your duties? You can start neggering people for no reason, other than you don't like them? I guess that makes you even more sucking of the sucks on most days.

In retrospect, I didn't know you only moderated the politics forum. I thought you were over here as a moderator, being a dick sometimes. If you're appointed a moderator on this site, you should be (as sleeper has said) consistent, not only in your handling of infractions, but also in regards to the content of which you post.
