Partly - Cloudy Klein will be back on the farm coaching Lickme Valley HS next year (if) he can graduate which probably is a long shot.

You hear this kind of stuff from the locals all the time. I remember Toledo people saying "Fred Davis isn't all that great. Way overrated" and he ended up being a stud Tight End for USCw. Of course there's always mishaps but by and large these coaches know what they're doing. Storm Klein wasn't that great but he would start at several schools in the B1G. A lot of people thought Dan Fox from Ignatius would have been a better get but he was Notre Dame all the way and it's not clear to me that he was anymore impressive than Klein was. And, Steve Filer, who we really wanted out of Chicago who was supposed to be a beast has been stuck on the bench at Notre Dame.Midstate01;1225286 wrote:Sometimes you see a player that gets high stars but you just don't see it.

See taco charlton from pickerington. Dude didn't even start on his hs team last year. Yet he's a 4* recruit. BUT many that live in the area and watch him play, say he's nowhere near the player he's projected as.

COLUMBUS— For the second straight year, Ohio State University alumni and students didn't snap up all the available football tickets.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that 5,234 fewer alumni and 2,276 fewer students than last year applied to buy single-game tickets.
Alumni Association spokesman Jay Hansen says most years about 44,000 alumni apply for tickets. This year, 33,436 applied.
Altogether, students, faculty and staff members and OSU alumni will get about 48,000 tickets per game. An additional 42,000 tickets go to season-ticket holders, including major boosters.
Hansen says he thinks the economy is mostly to blame for the trend. Also, there are more total tickets available this year because the Buckeyes are playing eight home games instead of the more-typical seven.

If I was back home, I'd love this. That only means more tickets to be had for the general public.

Similar to the "economy" argument, I wonder how much of it is a result of the "brain-drain" effect (i.e., the emigration of highly trained or intelligent people from a particular area)? I'm wondering if more & more alumni are leaving the state (due to the poor economy) in search of better jobs. The alumni association just went to a new format for alumni tickets as well. Unless you were already a lifetime member you have to pay yearly now plus pay for tickets. Im sure that is a reason for some of the decreased alumni buying tickets.

I don't think that's really any different than before.Life and Sustaining Members of the Alumni Association have the opportunity to to apply for the annual football ticket lottery. Sustaining Members must make their tax-deductible gift of $75 or more to the Ohio State fund(s) of their choice by Dec. 31 to be eligible for the following year's lottery.

Other than the fact that they have to pay to be a sustaining member(like before) PLUS they must now donate $75 and then buy the tickets.

Everyone who graduates is a basic member for free. If you "donate" at least $75 you are a sustaining member and can then buy football tickets.
