Holmgren should be calling the plays and coaching, as he has been a lousy exexutive for most of his career.

Everyone in this organization except Heckert is performing the wrong job function.

Holmgren should be coach calling his plays. Chilly as a loyal underling O.C performing the role he played for Andy Reid in Philly.

Shurmur is most competent as a position coach where he can be nameless and faceless, not to mention being no where near a game plan or play calling (29th, 26th, and 29th in his 3 seasons as a play caller in terms of overall offense).

My frustration as a fan is that we have the pieces, just they are all performing roles they aren't good at. We are littered with square pegs in round holes.

Bruce Hooley today on KNR was talking about how around the league when you ask about the Cleveland Browns to other executives one of the first responses is arrogant, not to mention we are being laughed at over this Bob Lamonte obsession where we only higher people that will keep the commission in the family.

As I read, Childress fits right in with the gang because he is arrogant and above reproach as well. This whole regime is living in their own little world.

How in his right mind could Mike Holmgren allow Pat to keep calling his own plays when he has a coordinator now after what transpired last year, and his entire career up until now?

This is why the media and fans are so hard on these guys, because they just don't seem to get it, and don't want to get it.

Not thrilled with the hire. I wanted Sherman. I really think that Shurmur needs to focus on being an HC not call the plays.

So what the fuck was the point in hiring Chill if Patty Boy is going to be making the play calls?

I don't believe Shurmur will continue to call plays. That might be what they're saying now; sure. But no way does Childress take this position without having any "real" duties.

He is a Bob Lamonte client. That is all that it takes to get a job in Cleveland.
Bob LaMonte, the NFL superagent who represents Browns President Mike Holmgren, Browns GM Tom Heckert, Browns Executive Vice President Bryan Wiedmeier, Browns head coach Pat Shurmur, Browns quarterbacks coach Mark Whipple, and Offensive Coordinator Brad Childress.
This guy is cleaning up the commissions right now as he gets to sit on both sides of the table.

Some of LaMonte's clients include: If that's all it takes (being his client), looks like Lerner can pick and choose from a pretty decent list.

My understanding is that when Childress was the OC in Philly he'd give Andy Reid the option of 3 plays and Reid made the final call. I'm assuming Shurmur will do something similar.

That is a little better than Shurmur choosing between his usual 4 plays that he has every game.

29th January, 2012 - 12:38 pmNFL.com - Not much progress has been made between the Eagles and DeSean Jackson in regards to a new contract, according to a report.

The talks have lingered over the Eagles for almost a year and it figures to make headlines even more as the wide receiver gets closer to free agency.

Jackson just finished the final year of his four-year rookie contract that was scheduled to pay him $600,000 in 2011.

According to a report, Jackson would accept a franchise tag from the Eagles if that's the move the team prefers.

That doesn't seem to be a likely outcome, however, as the tag would command Jackson a 2012 salary of $9.5 million.

Hmm seems more likely that D Jax might be a FA.

If we get DJax, I dont see a need for Meachem. I'm not really interested in Meachem period. If we got DJax AND Garcon, that'd be amazing. Don't see it happening.
