I agree, when Taylor comes back....our D-line rotation is going to be pretty good. Atleast it will actually look like a NFL defensive line.BR1986FB;1280605 wrote:Hughes is actually VERY solid. He and Winn have been doing a good, not great, job. When Taylor comes back they should have a nice rotation at DT.
Absolutely, I don't know why this front office refuses to bring in a veteran WR to help these young guys.wes_mantooth;1280611 wrote:Isn't that what Gordon is supposed to be? Big and fast.
I would have really liked to see them bring a veteran to help these young guys...like a Derrick Mason from a couple of years ago.

You mean these 3 don't know how to rebuild a franchise??

I have mentioned that in the past as a need to get rid of Shurmur now, or as soon as someone can go over Holmgren's head and do it for him since he won't.Put Chilly or jauron in charge and let them at least do what a coach should do---coach the players and make them better. Granted, they will be gone next year as well, but I'll take my chances they can possibly have a positive effect on player development.
I would like to see what this same group of guys looks like coached by Chilly or Juaron, as it will give us at least a glimpse (even if only 4-5 games) of whether or not they are really as bad as Shumur makes them look. If either Chilly or Juaron can make them look like an NFL football team, then maybe you reassess you're evaluations on certain guys heading into the off-season as far as positions of need (or guys that need to be cut).
Without at least seeing how this same group looks with another coach IMO it is harder to evaluate these guys in the Off-Season. Seeing as we are going no where fast, it is worth trying because it can only be helpful.

If an interim coach comes in to a 1-8 team and goes 4-3 down the stretch there is pressure to stick with them instead of seeking out the best possible candidate. That's why I oppose doing it.

yea, i don't want an interim coach getting the nod just because he can find a way to beat the chiefs and the raiders.Mulva;1280944 wrote:If an interim coach comes in to a 1-8 team and goes 4-3 down the stretch there is pressure to stick with them instead of seeking out the best possible candidate. if the new regime is serious about turning things around, they will find the right guy to be the coach--regardless of whether he coached here before, and regardless of what his record is/was, etc. It MAY happen that the right guy is right here under our nose (e.g. say Juaron) --though I very highly doubt that. At this point I'm putting my trust that Haslam 1) is a good business man, 2) will make the right hires, and 3) will surround this place with all the right people in the right place to make a positive difference. All that obviously is pretty complete unfounded faith at this point, but the very fact that it's a complete different guy calling the shots than what we've had since the expansion gives me hope. With that being said, the SOONER we can start making changes, the better.

From Lane on OBR:
"Spreading the field or running the hurry-up will spread the field, force the defense to actually play the perimeter of the field and pay attention between the hashes.
This QB is at his best in the shot-gun with the the field spread. He has the ability to get the ball out quickly and this is a facet underutilized in my opinion.
This type of scheme would essentially open-up the opportunity to run the ball without dealing with the box stacked or cheating LB's and S's."
One problem Lane. Patty boy is our HC, and our players are battling despite the losing and the idiotic dipshit at the helm.

C'mon now....that suggestion wouldn't fit with Holmgren's cookie cutter "3-5-7 step drop WCO."Commander of Awesome;1281180 wrote:From Lane on OBR:

The Browns are 0-8 against Ravens QB Joe Flacco. According to emailer Chuck Stephenson of Los Angeles, CA, the Browns have been outscored in those games, 203 to 91. Stephenson further points out the Browns are 1-14 against Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger and have been outscored, 385 to 159, and are 0-3 against Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton, and outscored, 84 to 64. Adding it all up against current AFC North quarterbacks, the Browns are 1-25 and have been outscored, 672 to 314.

No it doesn't surprise me at all.....just further increases the fans frustrations when the stats are in front of you and you see how bad things really have been and are.

"Going on the road is its own dilemma," offensive coordinator Brad Childress said Tuesday. "Tough defense, very hostile environment, and I think Coach Shurmur puts it the right way when he talks about everybody has seen RV's before, but what do RV's do? They go places and they plug into somebody else's electricity. I think that's what we'll be attempting to do as we head out to Baltimore."
Wow I am so motivated knowing that Shurmur is telling his team to be like an RV....

What about Holmgren? Holmgren has said he wants to "fulfill his contract" and it's assumed he has a "golden parachute" and will want to bail as soon as Banner takes over. But if he truly wants to fulfill that contract, why doesn't Haslam shitcan Shurmur and get Holmgren to take over in the interim role to fulfill it? I'd feel a lot more comfortable with Holmgren in a coaching role than team president role.ricola;1280674 wrote:Put Chilly or jauron in charge and let them at least do what a coach should do---coach the players and make them better.

My biggest question is end of the game when we are supposedly in a hurry up, Weeden is under center running a PA pass. Put the MF in shotgun and let him sling away.
