I always wrote him off, seemed like Blaine Gabbert to me. They seem to be pretty high on him though and have me rethinking my original thought. I'll be interested to see what other pundits say as I think Scott Wright is a bit of a joke fencer.BR1986FB;1038418 wrote:Mentioned him earlier as a potential target.

I don't think it's overrated at all. And he has been a shotgun QB his whole college career. Maybe he wasn't in HS? I do agree with your points about his talents. They are extraordinary. He has one of the quickest releases I've ever seen. My point is, it's much different under center than it is taking snaps in the shotgun. (especially playing against NFL defenses)Y-Town Steelhound;1038538 wrote:Ah yes, the most overrated attribute for identifying a quarterback next to his height. First of all, let's not pretend like RGIII has NEVER taken a snap from under center in his entire career. Second of all, unless you're a complete and total R-tard (which it doesn't appear like he is considering he can form whole sentences in his interviews), you can learn with the help of a basic QB coach how to consistently take a snap from under center. If you look at his film you can see that he has good footwork even out of the shotgun so its not like you have to teach him how to drop back into the pocket.
Here are things that you cannot coach: his speed, his arm, his accuracy, his decision making, his play making ability. Make no mistake about it gentlemen, we will see 10 Andrew Lucks (hell we saw one a few years ago in Matt Ryan) before we see another RGIII. He can make throws that Colt McCoy can't make in Madden.

I guess we'll just have to wait & see what the regime does but I bet they bring in another QB with the intent of him being the starter.

No, but if you're gonna be a c#nt about it, I'm gonna throw it back in your face. You want to come across as a sniveling condescending prick and I'm gonna ram it right back at you.derek bomar;1038628 wrote:someone's vagina is sandy...
To disagree is healthy if you're passionate enough about it. Some people want to stay the course with McCoy and build around him. That's fine. I think he sucks and no matter what the weapons put in place he'll NEVER be a Super Bowl winning QB. That's fine too. Everyone has an opinion and we're all entitled to them.

I was just trying to fuck with you man... been a long day at work.
Anywho, I still think we should get the rest of the house in order before sending another young QB up to the firing squad, but whatever.

Nice pussy cop out response. Typical of an idiot, when they get pwned and their idiotic comments thrown back in their face they act like they were just kidding. Sorry your posting history and association speaks for itself.derek bomar;1038800 wrote:Allow myself to introduce...myself.

Talk is cheap, but I love how DQ has stepped up as a leader. Hopefully he holds guys accountable this offseason and they come in ready to go next year.

Agreed. I think they are close to having a playoff caliber defense but that offense is just brutal. Saw some stats and the 2011 team had worse stats on offense than the expansion 1999 & 2000 teams when 2011 had more talent.Mulva;1039050 wrote:Talk is cheap, but I love how DQ has stepped up as a leader. The '99 and '00 had a pretty solid #1 WR in Kevin Johnson. I dont see that on the current squad.

Yup agreed, we need that kind of out of the box thinking to stay ahead of the curve in the AFC north.wes_mantooth;1039239 wrote:I hope we grab a long snapper early in the draft.

Yeah, Jackson would be a top shelf free agent addition, and the Browns are going to have to do things like that if they hope to challenge in the AFC north.
The offense has so many holes, If you take McCoy and Hillis out of the mix, what do you have left? A tight end...a couple of #3 receivers...a average(being generous) O-line with no depth. You don't even have Dawson under contract for next year.
Shurmur won't commit to McCoy...and I don't blame him for a number of reasons, not the least of which is to keep teams guessing what we are going to do with the #4 pick.
We are going to need to do alot with free agency, and we are going to have to have a gangbusters draft....something we haven't seen in a long, long while.
I think the defense is already there..think how much better they might have been if they had a decent offense that would keep them off the field so they could get a breath.Agreed. They still need another pass rusher at DE to take the pressure off of Sheard. They also need an athletic OLB with speed to replace Fujita. I can live with the corner/safety situation as I think Skrine/Patterson will be fine if they can generate a pass rush.HitsRus;1039526 wrote:I think the defense is already there..think how much better they might have been if they had a decent offense that would keep them off the field so they could get a breath.

Kinda disagree on the O-Line. If Steinbach returns, that's an easy fix and could be one of the better lines in the NFL with a young, athletic RT. Key needs on offense are speedy, athletic playmakers (QB, WR's and possibly a RB).
