This I'll agree with. Let's hope he's progressing and keeps improving from here on out. I'm not counting on it but he did very well against Cincy.

And who said anything about the first game? The offense looked like shit. I've SAID that. I said Shurmur called an EXCELLENT offensive game against Cincinnati and put his OFFENSE in a position to win. He didn't necessarily do that in the first game. Now, he could come out and lay an egg in his next game plan (against Buffalo) but the fact that there was progression from week 1 to week 2 leads most people to have optimism.
Shurmur is the HEAD COACH. Everything falls on him. I don't care if he doesn't call the plays, hes in charge.

Only you would find optimism in going from a loss to a loss. A close loss to a bigger loss.

I can't really take what you're saying seriously since you didn't WATCH the game. You asked immediately afterwards how Weeden looked so you obviously didn't watch it. If you didn't come away more optimistic about the offense after the putrid display they put on in week 1, well....you're not watching the same game as us. Oh yeah, you DIDN'T watch.

And to go back to your comments about Colts fans...of course they didn't give a shit once they saw the writing on the wall (Manning's departure). The only time "tanking" is somewhat acceptable would be when you're 1-12 and staring down the #1 pick in the draft, NOT when you're 0-2 and your offense just came off it's best performance since 2007-2008. Otherwise, to quote Herm, "you PLAY to WIN the game." If this team is 0-12 going into week 13, tank away...but it's WAY too early for even thinking about that NOW.

This was posted earlier by Pumpkinhead (Pumpkinhead Nation)....

Here's the info I received as a DM last night regarding the #Browns cheerleaders: I am sending you this message as a heads up and to ask for your assistance in advance. We are projecting to hold the Cleveland Spirit Cheerleaders (UNofficials for the Browns) auditions NEXT WEEK (likely Friday, September 28th, evening time frame somewhere between 4pm-10pm) We have hit a small snag in confirming our audition location, but expect to have that secured TOMORROW. PRESS RELEASE should be ready and out THIS FRIDAY (Saturday at the latest). I want to ensure we find the hottest, most beautiful, most talented cheerleaders in the NFL!!!!! As soon as the press release hits my inbox, I will forward it and share/post it to all of you. Please help make this a hugely successful inaugural audition by spreading the press release/word EVERY DAY! POST IT, PRINT IT, EMAIL IT, TALK ABOUT IT, REFER ALL POTENTIAL WOMEN TO IT/ME, ETC. Thank you sooooo very much in advance for your help! Feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions. As always, GO BROWNS!!!

Talk about taking what I say and completely interpreting the wrong way.

Im not saying I want the players to tank...of course they play to win the game. Im saying I will be rooting for them to win, but if they lose ill be happy. Why? Because I care about the future not a 6-10 season.

And I missed a quarter last game...so I watched 75% of the game...sue me. Weeden looked good idk why you're bringing that up. Not good enough to win though.

Yeah, I know. He looked pretty shitty when he whiffed on that tackle on Hawkins 50 yard TD reception.

If they lose this week that might be possible.

I think they are going to get some wins that will surprise people. At they end of the year, I think Haden's going to be kicking himself in the ass for his selfish act.

I'm not in favor of cleaning house, firing Shurmur? Yeah probably on board. I like Heckert and what's he's been able to do here (minus the Hardesty pick) and think he's earned to keep his job.

I think they are getting a lot better. The problem with getting wins this year is the rookie QB who has talent but will be making rookie mistakes that lose games. They might have a chance with KC, Oak, and Cincy @home, but could easily lose those games due to rookie mistakes. I am guessing 2-14 or 3-13 based upon what I have seen thus far.

Huge matchup in this one is how Mitchell Schwartz handles Mario Williams. If he doesn't, it's gonna be a long day for Weeden.

Also, how will the offense do without the best blocking TE on the team....Alex Smith out with a concussion. Schwartz could've probably used the help of the TE, FB, RB to slow down Mario Williams. I'm interested to see how they gameplanned for that.

Got my nosebleed seats, but no bus for this weekend. I will get the title in the muni lot...but can't pick it up until next week. Oh well, gives me some time to work on it a little bit...put my little touch on it.

As for the game, If Spiller runs for 100+ on us....we lose I think. I think the Browns get one of their 3 wins this season....tomorrow. Go Browns!

This week's game is huge, because if they can't win this one then it is likely the Colts game is the only thing standing between the team and being 0-10 at the bye week. I just don't see where the wins would come from outside of Indy (maybe Cincy I guess). The rest of the schedule up to that point is just brutal.

Haslam would be owner by then, and likely heads might start rolling if we are 2-8, 1-9.

If we don't beat Buffalo though and are 0-3 heading to Ratbird stadium 4 days later that is a problem, and a way for this season to spiral quickly out of control.

I think last week was about how bad the bengals defense is and how good Trich really is. I see Spiller going off again tomorrow. I'll say Bills 31-17.

Posted this in the other thread...I'd be interested in hearing some of yallssss plans for the new regime, which almost assuredly is coming.

Yeah I think we all agree---get rid of everyone, top to bottom.

This is of course my opinion and I'm sure some won't agree...but that wouldn't be a "4 to 5 year rebuilding process". There are players in tact here, we just need a new regime that can fill some holes, aka draft better in the later rounds.

My plan for new regime:

1) we're probably going to have a top 3 pick. Take a QB. I'm sorry Weeden, you're a good guy I'm sure, but you need a dominant QB; someone who will put the franchise on their shoulders and take them to 12 wins. I just cannot see Weeden being that guy. He's probably a decent NFL QB, but that's not what a new regime needs, and it's certainly not a winning mentality.

2) Fire the hell out of Shurmur. Excuse me, Derpmur. Somehow, someway someone dubbed him a "great football mind" Yeah, I'm just not seeing that. Too many stupid mistakes that an NFL coach cannot make.

3) Keep Jauron on as D-Coordinator. He's not great, but he's the best D-Coordinator we're going to get that will not just bounce to a big market team when they have a few good years. Looking at you, Ryan.

4) Completely change the mentality of this team. Stop with the dances. Stop with the show boating. We are an embarrassment of a franchise right now, make sure they know that. Every time they do a little dance or show boat, the world laughs. Install a mentality where you go out and get the job done, THEN you can party and showboat.

5) Get the fanbase back on board. Be socially friendly. The president, GM...should all have a twitter. Reach out to Browns fans, let them know winning WILL be coming. I don't know how you get evryone excited, but at least show the fans you care and want to fix this debauchery.

6) Install some confidence in the young position players. Massaquoi, Benjamin, Little, Gordon...come on guys, catch the damn ball. It's not hard, you can do it, you're an NFL WR. Play big, and you will see a DRAMATIC change in the offense. Trent Richardson...keep up the "captain" mentality we've been hearing about. He may not be the next AP, but we don't need an AP, we just need a quality RB to go along with a dominant QB.

None of that seems too out of ordinary. None of it seems out of reach. Lets turn this sucker around!
