12,254 fans have come to # Browns camp this year -
highest total through the first 4 sessions since the club began tracking figures
in 2005

Coincidently, that is 2 more people than last years Bengals' home attendance for the season. ;)

Ex Brown in the news
[h=2]Jamal Lewis arrested for failing to pay child support[/h] Posted by Michael David Smith on August 1, 2012, 10:21 PM EDT
Former NFL running back Jamal Lewis was arrested on Tuesday in his native Georgia for failing to pay child support.
Lewis was charged with child abandonment, booked into jail late on Tuesday night and released shortly after midnight Wednesday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
The arrest warrant says that in addition to failing to live up to his financial obligations as a father, Lewis has also failed to do anything at all for his son, and they’ve had no contact for more than a year. This isn’t Lewis’s first brush with the law: He spent most of the 2005 offseason in prison after pleading guilty to drug charges.
Lewis filed for bankruptcy this year, claiming he couldn’t pay his debts even though he had more than $14 million in assets and only (only?) $10 million in debts.
Lewis played for the Ravens from 2000 to 2006 and for the Browns from 2007 to 2009. His 10,607 rushing yards rank 21st in NFL history, and his 2,066-yard season in 2003 is the second most prolific rushing season in NFL history.

Was LMAO this morning listening to Ross Tucker on Sirius XM. One of his topics was Roethlisberger's rotator cuff "injury." Tucker was calling him a "drama queen" and "the boy who cried wolf." The tweeters & callers, for the most part, were ripping on Roethlisberger too. Most of these listeners were actually Steeler fans calling to say "just shut up and play."

They better hope he plays. I doubt they want Charlie Batch in there.

Maybe the will call Troy Smith back up ;) ;)

He'll play. There's no doubt about that. Also, Leftwich would probably get the call if Ben does get injured. I'd say Batch is 3rd string when Leftwich is healthy (which isn't often).

Glad the drama is over.

2nd August, 2012 - 8:20 amGregg Rosenthal/NFL.com - The Browns are making Colt McCoy available via trade, which makes recent comments by coach Pat Shurmur a little suspicious.

"Colt's doing great," Shurmur said of the quarterback.

"I think he's continuing to improve. I'm seeing him do things in this camp that he didn't do a year ago, and he's getting more comfortable within our system and he's coming to work every day and working hard. I think he's doing a good job."

Wonder if T-Rich got dinged up at today's training camp? He was practicing early on and then he spent most of practice on the sidelines stretching out.

Sounds like there was quite a battle between MoHard and Brandon Jackson today. Both looking VERY good. Depth at RB would be a nice luxury.

Weeden was 5 of 6 in the 2:00 drill threading a beauty to Watson for 20 yards into a very tight window. Weeden's group was stopped at the 3 yard line.

McCoy threw to Watson in the end zone during his turn with :03 left but Watson couldn't pull it down. Very nice throw from what was relayed to me.

Also sounds like Reggie Hodges is BACK, consistently pinning the ball inside the 5 yard line with excellent hang time.

Of concern is that it sounded like Gordon had quite a few drops from the Twitter reports I'm getting. Little dropped a few too.

Will be interesting to get the take of legitimate football guys in Ryan & Kirwan this afternoon and not have to read MKC's "happy, happy...joy, joy" take on camp. Kirwan will give listeners the straight scoop on whether the Browns look like they have something here or whether we might be fed another shit sandwich.

Shurmur said Richardson had a headache today but he's fine

This one made me LOL...

# Browns Shurmur: Weeden throwing swing
pass 2 Hardesty @ end 1 min drills was a coachable moment. Said the ball has to
go into the endzone

"Coachable moment?" You mean like handing the ball off to a tight end (Alex Smith), 'coachable moment?"

Sale looks to be complete.

$700 million now, $350 at a later date.

Lerner will not be part-owner of the Browns long-term.

I know BR posted Schefter's tweet, but here is a little more detailed article about the sale etc.....
[h=2]Report: Sale of Browns for over $1 billion is complete[/h] Posted by Josh Alper on August 2, 2012, 12:19 PM EDT
APNo one knows what a sale to Jimmy Haslem III might mean for the current Browns hierarchy, but it looks like we’ll find out soon enough.
Adam Schefter of ESPN and the NFL Network both report that Haslem has completed his purchase of the team from Randy Lerner. Schefter reports that the total sale price will be $1 billion, with Haslem paying $700 million now for a controlling interest in the team. There will be a second payment of more than $300 million at a later date.
The first rumors of a possible sale broke on July 27th, which means things have moved quite quickly for Haslem and the Browns. Haslem still needs to be approved by the rest of the NFL owners, but that’s not thought to be a major stumbling block since Haslem was already an investor in the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Now we’ll wait for confirmation of former Eagles president Joe Banner’s involvement with the new ownership group and some idea of what the ownership change might mean for the regime running the Browns right now. There’s not much chance that General Manager Tom Heckert or coach Pat Shurmur will be going anywhere anytime soon, but team president Mike Holmgren’s future with the team is much less clear.
It has been less than three years since Holmgren joined the franchise in a major shakeup of the franchise. We might be on the brink of another one as the Browns change hands.

Did Shurmur bring the refs back for training camp this year, or is he still too stubborn for that?

Speaking of refs. Anyone have any concerns on the replacement refs? Some have never refereed a div 1 college game. The NFL doesn't seem close to signing an agreement soon and they have been training the replacements for a while now.

I think they will be too pussed out to make any calls in front of large crowds. We may see alot of refs "allowing the boys to play," which I'd prefer over petty flags any day.

I was taking a dig at Shurmur for some of his blunders last year.

Takes from Thursday...looks like Weeden picked a good day to put on a show with Ryan & Kirwan in the house.

This sale is huge IMO. Brings in an owner who actaully wants to be with the team and has money to blow. I hope they keep Heckert though. Only person I care about.
