Heyward Bey was drafted 7th..yes 7th overall, largely because of his speed. In 3 years, he doesnt even have 100 receptions.
In 2 years, Jacoby Ford has a whopping 44 receptions.

Speed doesnt mean anything if you arent being productive.

Travis Benjamin wasn't drafted 7th, so what's your point?

Michael Crabtree was drafted top 5 and he hasn't done much either.

Thanks for spinning your original argument that the Browns should have drafted a WR high.

But yes, the Oakland Raiders have had great QB play recently as well

/sarcasm.

I get it. The Browns suck, all their draft picks suck, we'll finish 1-15 and be right back here next year. Then we can all bitch about who they draft again.

Classy from Marvin Lewis...when talking about the AFC North, **** Suzy kolber said "gotta beat the Steelers and Ravens" and Marvin said right away "don't forget about the Browns..they had a very good weekend and are a good team..can't forget they're in the division"

I mean, I don't agree w/ what he said but it was classy lol

Guess you'll find anything to bitch about.

Unless maybe he really thinks they found some good players. I mean, it sounds like the Browns have gotten some "sleeper targets" that other teams were eyeing. Let's hope this is indeed the case.

What don't you agree with? We did have a good weekend, we added at least 3 starters, possibly 5 with Miller and JMJ.

You guys might as well give up. No point in arguing about the draft. There are some of us who like it and some who don't.

We'll see who's right in a couple of years..

Miller won't start. He was simply brought in as depth, but he's supposedly weak for a tackle and too slow for a guard. Regardless, I'm fairly happy with the draft as well. The only poor pick was Hughes in the third, I think, but we will have to see what happens. At least we have a quarterback that CAN THROW the deep ball now.

Reading John Hughes' scouting reports, it seems like he's very stout against the run and doesn't get moved off his spot. Sounds like the Browns were trying to address the weak run defense by adding some quality depth run stopping DT's. If Hughes pans out, they got what they wanted.

Really want to go into this again?

Look..some people like the draft they had, some don't. I think they did some good, and a lot of bad.

Good:
JMJ-solid pick, good value.
Trent Richardson-love getting him, but this is also going in the bad column..
Schwartz-needed an upgrade to the right side of the line, and they got it. Great pick.

Bad:
WRs--WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY!?!
Trent Richardson-like I said, I like TRich, I think he's going to be amazing..but that's not going to improve our chances of winning a Super Bowl. And they had to give up 3 picks for him, which they could have used to build depth at some positions.
D-tackles--why? why? why? why? There are sooo many other areas of need, why are we taking TWO DTs when we're good at that position? I know, I know..Rubin and Taylor need to sit out every once in a while, okay, but i'd rather a shitty player come in for a play or two to spell the starter, then have an actual starter be terrible for the whole game.
DeCastro--he was there, and we passed...SMFH
Weeden-enough said. Possibly the worst pick in the history of the world.

Yeah, it hasn't been a great draft, but to say it hasn't been "good" is, IMO, absurd.

S&L, our defense was solid last season but to completely ignore it would have been foolish. Our run defense was poor. Taylor and Rubin can't play every down.

I agree, I didn't want them to completely ignore it. But instead of a DT in the 3rd round, why not a CB? Why not an OLB? I mean literally any other position but DT. We're not in a position to build depth, we're in a position of finding starters.

Taylor and Rubin can't play every down, but at worst they come out for 2 plays in a row? I think the backups/whole defense will be fine for a play or two when these guys are out.

That just tells you how bad this team is. The Browns made terrible picks in the 2nd and 3rd round and a huge, huge gamble on the 22nd pick, there is no getting around that.

Speaking of which... I gave the 2010 draft a B. Definitely too high. Re-grading, probably a D+. Haden was still a great pick, Ward is alright, and everything else was shit.

I pretty much nailed it on Haden, Ward, Hardesty/Tate, and Lauvao. I completely overrated the later part of the draft though, even though those rankings are relative to when they were taken.

I think I'll post another one of those later for this year, just for funsies. It should be a good way to get some people's panties in a bunch.

Would you rank the Browns draft ahead of anyone else in the division?

I'm not going to go through and rank every draft 1-32, but if I did the Browns would probably fall in the bottom 10. They did better in the later rounds, but the early rounds are way more important and weighed much more heavily.

And Oakland's quarterbacks were who? Hard to remember them isn't it? Same thing with Crabtree in Frisco. Can't remember those quarterbacks either...until Alex Smith finally woke up. Crabtree caight 72 balls on a running team. Point being...you need a quarterback and wide receivers to throw the ball in this league.

Overview
Benjamin was a big-play threat at Miami for several years. Initially an electric return specialist, he eventually became an effective pass-catching option. He is undersized but fast enough to get past safeties, and has the route-running savvy to outwork corners, create separation and make plays. His size might limit his pro potential, but many receivers of his stature have succeeded in the NFL. Benjamin has third- to fourth-round value.

Analysis Strengths

Benjamin understands how to get open at the top of routes and can use his explosiveness to his advantage. As a returner, he is a "one cut and go" runner who can break for daylight. The key to his game as a receiver is his ability to get open, and he doesn't shy away from contact. He will be a true deep threat who runs crisp intermediate routes.
