Contract still needs to be worked out. Looks like Fickell stays at OSU for now.

At least this might hurt Wisky a little.

Sounds like he is going to accept. He would be crazy not to. Glad that Wisky is losing their guy and not OSU.

Wouldn't be much of a loss for us IMO, but keeping some continuity might be beneficial. Having Withers who has had multiple big time draft picks at UNC and did pretty respectable job at UNC involved with the defense is huge for us.

we get it, you dont like Fickell. You dont have to make it known in every post that has to do with Ohio State coaching.

Noted.

Good thing he has yourself to defend his honor on internet message boards. Otherwise he might have been heartbroken.

Fickell was never really an option really. My understanding was it was between Cryst and Mario Cristobal. Something tells me Cristobal would rather sit in South Beach until another coaching job opens up in a warm climate.

Pitt is not a great job either. Tough to win there being between Ohio State and Penn State.

Not a traditional power and the fan support looks to be tepid at best.

When you see them on TV, Heinz Field is usually pretty empty and the field always looks terrible (grass is chewed up and brown)

PS I am sorry I expect a coach to know when to use timeouts, to know that Joe Bauserman sucks right away (not 3 or 4 weeks into the season), to not get outcoached on a consistent basis, etc.

I'm sorry that I was less than excited to hear that the above mentioned coach was going to continue having a large influence on the defense. Obviously Bauserman is a QB so he'll avoid that one, but he did the same thing with Shazier on defense. Fickell single handedly cost us 3 games this year. Some of you who were screaming then, are now surprisingly singing Kum Bay Yah. I don't get it

Cryst better cut a nice check to Russell Wilson. imo- Wisco's QB helped Cryst get the job.

him not being ready to be a head coach at one of the historically greatest football programs in the country with uncommon circumstances does not make him a bad assistant coach. There is a reason he was made interim coach. You are out of your mind if you think Tressel wouldn't have done similar things (Bauserman and Shazier situations)

I thought Mario Cristobal would be their guy and a better hire IMO.

Heard he's waiting for something, somewhere in Fla to open up.

Just saying, he really struggled with in-game adjustments. It would often take the staff not plays, not quarters, but weeks to adjust. The team was one of the most poorly coached and managed Buckeye teams in my memory.

Obviously that does not all fall on Fickell's shoulders (Bollman gets a lot of the blame as well), but Fickell's performance or lack thereof was/is the reason I was scared that the defense was 'his' However, having Withers around definitely makes me a little more comfortable.

Sort of OT: is his wife the hottest coach's wife outside of Mrs. Kiffin (see's the one in the middle seen below)

Not sure Cristobal would have been a good fit in Pittsburgh. Chryst seems like the guy they've been looking for. A good hire

Didn't chryst turn down the Texas OC position last year. That job would of been a gravy train if you could get a couple of decent qb's and wait for mack to retire.
