I agree with this. You can't put lipstick on a pig. And keeping McCoy around an extra year is just setting the franchise back another year and delaying the inevitable, imo.

As long as you put "IMO" at the end of that, I have no problem with it lol as long as people are reading that and realizing its not the truth just some impatient browns fans opinion then ill leave your opinions alone

I agree with this. Luck is the only qb on the board that I would want in the top 5. I don't think McCoy is the answer, but there are much more pressing needs. I would rather them go the free agent route...although, I am not sure what will be available

I agree about weapons, I also agree that long term McCoy isn't the answer. Most of the time you're not going to be selecting in the top four (yeah I know as Browns fans we've come to expect it, but generally speaking) QB position is just too important as far as what you build your team around. The weapons can be serviceable, and available later in the draft and via free agency, QB that you can build around aren't. so you strike when you can...Colt was a third rounder, I want to see what we get with a first that isn't named Couch that isn't behind a paper machete line.

I get that, but with Barkley going back to school...I don't think that franchise qb is in this draft. I like RG3, but he is a vertical passer and unless there is a major change in the offensive playbook, I don't see him as a good fit. I don't trust shurmur to adapt to the talent he has around him

Haha we've had a shitty front office staff since the return...we now have people in place who know how to do it, so let them do it.

And can you really not go another year with McCoy and if he's not the answer draft a top qb? I mean its not like they're saying to wait 7 years ala Alex Smith. Just wait and see what McCoy can do with weapons, if nothing then they get their guy in there. Its not that long of a process

Flacco is better than mediocre but I don't expect people who aren't Ravens' fans to see that. I watch every game and see that a lot of his passes that aren't caught could easily be caught. He has a big arm and can make the big throws. What he seems to be missing is the "it factor."

jamarcus russell had a big arm, does that include him in the flacco category? Flacco is slightly above average imo. nothing great, nothing bad. the thing with him is he just completely sucks balls for period at a time. just disappears from the game completely and that hurts him.

Oh yeah I wasn't trying to insinuate that he is a top 5 QB. I'm just saying I get kind of tired hearing people say he is mediocre or bad. It's pretty easy to watch Sportscenter and see that he was 24 for 51 for 203 yards and assume he is a bad QB but I watch every game and see that there are balls that should be caught quite often. He has the skills needed. He just doesn't seem to have the IT factor.

well I mean that's an excuse. you can't factor dropped balls every now and then into him being medicre or not. The fact remains, he disappears, and really hasn't shown he is anything better than slighty average. That could change, but at the moment, there is no argument against that.

Here's your problem...THERE ARE NO 'TOP QB'S' TO DRAFT THAT ARE COMING OUT IN THE NEAR FUTURE. That's why they have to pull the trigger NOW.

The Jets have equipped their team to make a Super Bowl run but what's been holding them back? Mark Sanchez. The Ravens, prior to Flacco's arrival (and, no...I don't think he's great but he's A LOT better than McCoy), had the team in place to make a Super Bowl run but what held them back? Kyle Boller. See the pattern?

Even if you get ALL of the tools you "think" will make McCoy successful he's STILL going to be the weak link just like the guys I mentioned. They'll be pissing in the wind another 5 years waiting for the next "big thing" at QB.

Best of the bunch...

Jason Campbell (will be 30)
Matt Flynn (unproven)
Donovan McNabb (barf)
Kyle Orton

Pick your poison. None of those guys give anyone the "warm fuzzies." I've mentioned Flynn before as I could see him as a Holmgren "Matt Hasselbeck/Bret Favre QB to groom' type target. Not that I want him....just sayin'.

LOLLLLLL

Matt Barkley?

And how the fuck do you know there are no top QBs coming out in the next draft? When was the last time a draft didn't have a top qb come out of it?

I've already been through this. How many times have you seen a Ravens/Bears/Bucs defense (shutdown D, won a Super Bowl with a game manager QB) in your lifetime? Not sure how old are you but for me, THREE...the THREE I mentioned. Other Super Bowls have been won with elite/top tier QB's.

Because I've SEEN the list of 2013 QB's...not inspiring.

Matt Barkley?

As you say "LOL." So you're assuming the Browns will have the #1 pick in the 2013 draft which is likely where Barkley will go? If I'm a betting man I'm betting a) they DON'T and b) they don't pick in the top 10 in 2013.

Fucker's shouldn't have been drafting top 5 this year if they had any discipline and a HC that had a clue how to call offensive plays.

I think a lot of the "discipline" part is youth. Hopefully they grow out of it.

As far as Shurmur goes, we can only hope he sits down with Uncle Mike in the offseason and Holmgren 'evaluates' him and gives him little tips such as "go for the TD on 4th down when you're 4-9 on your opponents 1 yard line on the opening drive" and "you want to attempt passes PAST the 1st down marker on 4th down plays" and "take a shot at the end zone instead of playing for FG's."

Not that I'm comparing him to Belichick but the Hoodie was railed on when he coached here. He learned from his mistakes and grew. Unfortunately, Mangini didn't. Hopefully Shurmur grows into this position and isn't as defiant/arrogant as he seems. My biggest concern with him is "no sack." He seems gutless when it's time to show some balls.

No you're right, QBs definitely cannot show any progress from now until 2013
