Bringing it back after a year-off hiatus last season. Here's how it's going to work. Short and sweet list of rules. Less complicated than in the past. Please read below:
THE RULES:
Who can play? Anyone who wants to, and is registered on the forums.
What is involved? Picking THE WINNER of games on a weekly basis, anywhere from 12-17 games, each game being worth a single point with the "key game(s)" being worth 2 points.
How is it scored? Two ways. 1. Most points over the season. Period. I'm imagining a total points for the year between 150-160. Whoever has the most, wins. 2. Best winning percentage overall (must submit picks in 80% of the weeks, so 8 out of 10).
How are the games picked? I will post picks each week. The deadline for each week is the tip of each game. Each person will post their winners before the deadline each week. Any picks after the game time tip off will NOT count.
What do we win? You get the crown of being the "kick of the OC college basketball pick'em." What this means, who knows, but I've noticed that in the past, many of the more knowledgeable posters participate. The trolls/frauds (you guys know who you are) rarely participate. From years past, it was always nice to have some good discussion generated and this seems to help garner interest.
What do we REALLY win? Maybe we can put some vCash up. I'm not exactly sure how to do this so someone will have to help me organize it if they want to. I'd be down for it though.
What to expect? Expect 2 posts a week from me. I will post games for the upcoming week most likely on Saturday or Sunday (when I'm usually doing nothing but watching basketball all weekend) and the deadline will usually be Tuesday night (maybe Monday night if there is a great Monday game). This allows people anywhere from 24-72 hours to make picks. At the end of each week, I will also update the standings each week.
See the post below for the Week 1 games. I'll post it early to garner more views and interest. Those who stay around should know the routine after the first week. If you want to shoot a post in here telling me you're interested, go for it. It will give me a rough idea up-front.
