Do any of you donate or volunteer you time or money during the holidays to help others have a better holiday? I know most of the holiday threads on here turn in to a religious slug fest, but this has nothing to do about religion. Have any of you purchased gifts for children that may not get much for Christmas and anonymously just left it on their porch or just left an envelope at their door with money or gift cards so the family can buy things for the holiday without them knowing it was you? Even if it is just a toy or $20.00 to help make someones holiday better, you would be surprised at the impact it can have on their holiday, you should try it.

I've donated toys to toys for tots before, but that's about it.

My daughter was given $20 as a Christmas gift from her grandma and grandpa. When we got home, she ran up to her room, emptied her piggy bank (along with the $20 she just received) and told her mother that she wanted to give all of her money to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Shut my mouth.

Does "hanging out with friends and drinking beer" count as "helping others have a better holiday"? Because they seem to have fun and I'm having fun, so we're having a good time.

If so, yes.

It crossed my mind but then I spent the $20 on myself and it felt awesome.

I typically ask for monetary gifts from everyone for Christmas and adopt a family through my counties Children's Services. So while I'm not spending anything out of pocket, I do give to underprivileged children hoping to brighten their Christmas morning a little more.

We make donations to charities and so on, but my favorite thing to do is pay for the person behind me at the Tim Hortons drive thru in the morning when getting my coffee

I usually help out 2 kids with the toys for tots program and then our family has always done food donations to the salvation army...each family member spends 25 bucks on food to donate.

Impressive for a kid to give up their own gift for others to enjoy. I would normally think that the parents must be the driving force behind the a kid being so thoughtful, but you claim to be her dad, I must be wrong. She sounds like a good kid, you should be proud.

As small as that may seem, I am sure it makes their day. I knew everybody was wrong on here, when they bitch about you.

We have also done this and it is a very humbling and rewarding experience, never realised how bad some people have it until we started volunteering.

This is a shocking admission from you, considering some of your post toward kids and others on here, glad to see that you are not really the way you portray yourself on here, you do have a heart.

Very nice to hear there are still people that are willing to help others when they really need it during the holiday season.

Looks like your daughter already has more character and is more mature than you and snot combined.

If I were grandma/grandpa I would never get her anything again after wasting my money.
