I don't think $5 mil for Crawford or $6.7 mil for Bass are really outlandish contracts at all. I've also read the 2nd year of Roy's contract isn't guaranteed. A $5 million commitment is nothing, it's like 8% of the salary cap, for 1 year, for a 3-time all-star.
I get the point of not overpaying, but some of those examples are reaches.

A bench player worth almost 7 mill a year? And crawfords isn't bad at all. But Brandon Roy retired from bad knees that's just a waste of 5 mill for a guy that plays a 1/4 of a season

It'd be stupid to sign guys and lock up cap space when you don't have to. I think the Cavs want to fill the roster with cap friendly contracts to keep options open in terms of FA next season and trades during the deadline.Mulva;1220459 wrote:I don't think $5 mil for Crawford or $6.7 mil for Bass are really outlandish contracts at all. The luxury tac changes next year and goes up quite a bit, so the Cavs could be waiting to see what teams are giving up financially and selling/trading off their better players to rebuild.

Bass has started most of the last 2 seasons, including all of the playoffs this year.Crimson streak;1220461 wrote:A bench player worth almost 7 mill a year?
What if the Cavs end up signing Ilyasova for $9-10 mil/yr? Are you going to be consistent with your overpaying stance? Or does that suddenly become a great move.

Ersan has a very good PER and per 36 #'s. As I posted before, when he got an average of 30 MPG, he averaged 19/10 for the Bucks. He had a monster 29/22 game last season as well.Mulva;1220472 wrote:Bass has started most of the last 2 seasons, including all of the playoffs this year.

If he's 25, I think I'd be ok with the signing. If he's 28 like some rumors say, then no.

1/2 of a good season doesn't make a guy worth $10 mil/yr, does it? That's sort of the whole rationale behind saying teams are overpaying for guys like Lin and Dragic.hoops23;1220476 wrote:Ersan has a very good PER and per 36 #'s. I don't like 9-10 mill I would like somewhere around 5-6. He's young and talented. I don't want anyone who is not part of the future until its time to contend

According to John Hollinger's player rating formula, he's the best small wing since Wade. Also has Kyrie just under Chris Paul with the 2nd best PG rating coming into the league, and TT as the best big in the draft, ahead of Derrick Williams and the 9th best post player since 2002.
Only 9 players since 2002 have rated as high as Waiters, and the only one that didn't pan out was Josh Childress.

Also, looks like Ilyasova will be signing a 5 yr, $45 mil deal to stay with Milwaukee. I'm personally very happy about that. Doesn't sound like the Cavs were that close/interested anyway.Speaking of free agents, there doesn't seem to be much of a market for Cavs forward Alonzo Gee to date. There has been no offer for the Cavs to match. One agent said he'd recommend the 6-foot-6 forward to take the $2.7 million qualifying offer he was offered. Talk of him getting a four-year, $16 million offer from the Suns is long gone

What is a small wing? Does that just mean 2 guard?GOONx19;1220881 wrote:best small wing since Wade

Rumors that the Cavs are the 3rd team involved in a trade that would send Dwight to Brooklyn

Progress with Cleveland as third team first mentioned by @TommyDeeTKB. Deal far from agreed to, but progress being made, source says.

No shit.
I dont see the point in putting this out there right now. He will probably change his mind a dozen times before the end of next season anyways

Even though I really don't like the dude I'd love to have him. Unless we give up a ridiculous amount of course.

If he ever signed with the Cavs he would probably become my favorite player for the sheer fact that he wanted to come to Cleveland. He would also fill a huge need (no offense to Tyler Zeller).
