Interesting observation.

I love the young brazen "I know everything and you are stupid" people.
I love the arrogant "I'm older so I know everything and you're just a dumb kid" attitude as well. It's beautiful.

Facts aren't garbage. Your facts are garbage.

Please feel free to point out which facts I stated are garbage, I would love the debate.

I'm not smarter because I'm older, there are other good examples of such belief.

I believe one can look at evolution without the hypothesis of abiogensis, just as one can look at the gravity without knowing scientifically how gravity began.

And as long as this has turned into an atheist/theist discussion, I am curious to know if most theists (particularly "conservative" Christians) believe the Bible is infallible, or fallible, and why? I'm actually curious to discuss, not to bash or be derogatory/instigatory.

exactly. the hypothetical graviton (fundamental particle responsible for gravitational fields) has never been observed. yet no one runs around screaming about how gravitational theory is just a theory. well, at least not among the public.

I believe it to be Fallible. Many younger contemoprary churches take this stance too.

The show "Science behind the bible" or whatever is basically what these churches believe. The "magic" involved is a lot of realistic stuff that needs all perfect conditions to happen (like the parting of the red sea)

This whole thread is a joke. when you really think about it, not one kid gives a shit about religion on Christmas day,all they want are gifts and that has nothing to do with religion unless god is paying to buy my kids Christmas gifts. The last time I checked, the bills are still being paid for out of my bank account.

So, fallible in terms of fantastical events, but not (necessarily?) in teachings? I'm asking because I have a hard time reconciling the rape/slave/"women's place" parts of the bible that many Christians choose not to follow with the parts they do.

Seems to me if people believe the teachings are infallible, then they should all be followed, but if they believe certain parts are fallible, how is it to people to know which? I keep coming back to "political and social convenience" as the reason why, which doesn't jive with my concept of an omnipotent, omnipresent deity.

Santa baby,
A '65 convertible will do,
Steel blue,
I'll wait up for you, too.
Santa Baby,
so hurry down the chimney tonite!

Think of all the things I missed,
Think of all the as*holes that I never dissed,
This year I can be just as good,
If you check off my Christmas list.

Its not that hard to figure out.
Show me the poll that says that more people in this country think that violence is more acceptable for children to see than the human body.

Lol. Nothing like starting a post and coming back the next day and thinking, dang, 6 pages, that was a good one. Only to open it and find that the responses have absolutely nothing to do with the subject. :D

The difference is so obvious it isn't funny. We can currently observe the effects of gravity, we just don't fully understand it.

One can not observe evolution, which is why it is still more debated than gravitational theory. Also, not all gravitational theory is theory, there are parts of it that are "laws", or facts in science terms.

You are 100% false to say that not ONE kid cares about Christ on Christmas.
