Not really fair to either Conor or Mendes really, only two weeks for Mendes to prepare and Conor goes from preparing for a striker to a wrestler with a big right hand.

Conor has to be feeling great about facing a guy on two weeks notice. Aldo is becoming the new Cain, just saw this is his 5th fight he's pulled out of. Conor better win, count me as one who doesn't want to see Mendes vs Aldo 3

I fully believe Mendes thought this could happen and has trained for this fight for a bit.

Alpha Male fighters are known to stay in fight shape year round, so i don't think the turn around hurts him other than getting weight down.

This. I like the individuality of the sponsors and seeing guys like Machida and GSP walking out in their karate gear. Reps.

My first question back when the deal was just rumored was about the GSP karate gear, because that was the perfect example of what they couldn't lose. Fighting is not like the NFL. You cannot successfully sell a night of fights on the basis they will be professions who are awesome at fighting. You have to have the personality aspect. That isn't going away, even if people become more educated about the technical aspects.

Precisely, stars sell in this sport, and personalities/intriguing match ups.

Just finally saw the Reebok uniforms...and I have to say those are the ugliest things I have seen in a long time. That will be hard to watch...

I think the walk out gear should be fighter choice, like NHL goalie masks. They all have something different to show their personalities.

They should make them more personalized, like Lyoto could have a dragon on his, McGregor could have his symbol on there, stuff like that would make them much better.

Cormier is injured, seems like AKAs top fighters can't stay healthy. Khabib, Cain, and now DC.

Sounds like he is targeting coming back at UFC 192 in Houston in October.

Pretty big difference between weed and testosterone, Nate has never failed a test I don't believe.

For sure, just find it funny that like an entire camp has failed. I thought Nate failed for weed once, could be wrong though.

Melendez and Nick Diaz are the two biggest busts from Strikeforce. Melendez barely beat Diego Sanchez and Nick Diaz beat an over the hill chubby BJ Penn. I get they've both had great careers and some big wins, but since Strikeforce closed shop, they've been big busts in the UFC.

In fairness their competition level has been A+, but eventually you do have to get some wins.

Nick lost to Condit by a hair, lost to GSP and was competitive with Anderson Silva giving up a ton of weight, I'd say that's pretty good. He beat BJ when BJ was still in his prime also, Bj was coming off a draw against the number 2 WW in the world at the time.

I would not categorize the Penn that Diaz beat as prime at all, but agree with you Nick has not embarrassed himself against great competition. That's pretty much what his UFC career has been about. He acts like Nick Diaz, many want to see him get beaten badly, but he stays competitive and doesn't embarrass himself. It's kind of overshadowed the fact he is 1-3.

Off topic, the card he fought Scott Smith was getting replayed last night. What a crazy fight. Scot

Off topic, but the card he fought Scott Smith was getting replayed last night on some weird showtime channel. What a crazy fight I had forgot about. Scott Smith was just a total can, but he ate about 200 straight punches from Diaz without trying at all to move his head, or put his hands up.

Scott Smith was pretty decent at one point, I thought I read that he went through a long spell where he had a drug or an alcohol problem. can't remember which.
