I like Haas. Probably because I am familiar with him my kids played for him for awhile. I like the way he runs a program

I remember kids joking that their coach resembled Curly from the Three Stooges. Never a good thing for a football program!

The interview process should be short and sweet, they already have their new coach picked out.

Haas?
Wonder if the DR can get their hands on a list of applicants (since its a taxpayer funded position it should be public record).

Party, hell. I'm going to ask for a parade thru downtown to annoint his a*s. Unless his last name is Sandusky, I can't imagine a worse football program than the one McCreary has run.THE4RINGZ;1047578 wrote:Where will the party be when the new coach is announced?

Hold the presses!.....shouldn't they take a minute to talk to the recently fired McKinley coach. I have no idea why he got fired, but he was 31-16 over 4 years with 4 playoff apperances and 3 straight wins over Massilion. (shows he can win big rival games)
I would at least talk to the guy before making any decisions.

I'm curious as to your resource? I've heard of a couple very good potentials lined up to interview next Monday. It would be a shame to not be open to good and successful candidates. There seems to be folks out there ready to revive the Generals tradition in football.
As far as McCreary, I wish him well. Heard the brother was the problem..doesn't seem to be a secret though seeing the "community" had complaints about him.

Has anyone heard if Harbour is going for the job? I could see him trying to make the jump to a DI program after winning the state title, and I believe most of his coaches do not teach, so they wouldn't have to find many teaching jobs. Who else have you heard going for the spot?

Not to be pedantic but... Wooster is D2.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1048069 wrote:Has anyone heard if Harbour is going for the job? I did hear that Harbour would apply, but was not entirely sure if he'd leave Norwayne if he was offerred. Brent Besancon, Haas, Seth Duerr assistant from COW, and possibly someone from an NOL school.

Haas was the other one I was curious about. My bad on the divisions, coachshroom. Either way, it would definitely be a good opportunity for an up-and-coming coach like Harbour. I'm sure it's a pay raise and with the system he uses, Wooster definitely has the athletes to successfully incorporate it. Should be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks in Wayne County.

I've been impressed by most of the names I've heard. All, except for Besancon, are head coaches elsewhere who have turned programs around.
Actually, I heard it was Kyle Rooker (the offensive coordinator at C.O.W.) who applied. The Scots offense has been pretty solid under him. It was their defense that struggled.
Not one of that list would be a step backwards (if that's possible).

Interesting for certain. But with a new stadium (?) and field turf coming to Norwayne from an alum, Harbour may have a nice set up the way it is, but I agree the Wooster job is a great opportunity for whomever comes in.

Is Woosters marching band director on the committee to select the football coach??
I figured the director should have a say as to who will be playing football on the band field...

The answer is yes. Also on that commitee is the Girl's lacrosse coach, and both the girl's and boy's soccer coaches.Old Rider;1048497 wrote:Is Woosters marching band director on the committee to select the football coach??

The speech and debate coaches are not on the committee, surprisingly.

The Wooster High School football coaching search has been narrowed to eight candidates from a pool of approximately 50 applicants, athletic director Andy Kellar said. The interview process started Wednesday.
All three internal candidates who applied will get interviewed. They are Mark Hart, Pat Meenan and Andy Nicholson, who have each assisted at various level of the Generals program, but have not been head varsity football coaches before.
The outside finalists are Brent Besancon, Luke Durbin, Doug Haas, Tim Seder and Chris Solis.
