Again, I think the point some of you outsideres are missing is that Wooster fans and community have been lulled to sleep by the previous regime. Wooster has an excellent youth program, and this past season had 60-75 kids on the roster for both 7th and 8th grade football. The desire is there within the kids, they just have not been able to reach their full potential. Put a winning team at Follis ( football, not a winning soccer or girls lacrosse team) and you will see this community turn around. With all the other distractions over here, people were not going to support the same old same old.

Kudos to the new AD for having the stones to make this call. 'Bout damn time.

No. The pre-Madonna is the guy who wore his pretty little khaki pants and pointed dress shoes to a football game to walk out on a muddy field to present an award.

If Wooster puts the right guy in place the momentum of the football program could swing big time. Some Orrville fans don't want it to happen and will have nothing good to say. Other Orrville fans will actually see it as a good thing. Bottom line is, this is a great move for the kids and I hope they buy into the new coaches system big time. They have a great chance to resurrect Wooster football, but they have to put in the hard work to get there.

Would Wooster take a flyer on a coach like Paul Farrah? He had some great Louisville teams, but resigned after some allegations were levied against him.

I think you need a no BS coach who can put up with (or ignore) the vocal "fans" who want to try and direct traffic.

I know when job come open in the Massillon/Canton area, there's usually a list of coaches who apply. I hope that's the case and the DR can get a hold of a list. Always interesting to see who is sniffing the wind.

Sure, I'd put Paul Farrah on the list to contact. I'm hoping The Daily Record will list the coaches who are contacted and/or interviewed.

I've always thought the charge that Wooster does not have "community support" was off base. Over the past 15 years or so, Wooster has built a high school that should be good for another 100 years, raised money for the Gault Center, the natatorium, the establishment of a peewee program, and doubling the size of the weight room. And how about the show the district put on at the 100th Orrville-Wooster game, thanks to Mike Pallotta and some others, as well as the support of any 'Pay to Play' programs.

No, the support isn't the same as at an Orrville, but the towns are different. You don't see many second- and third-generation players at Wooster anymore, but the numbers at the junior high level are pretty good.

Sooner or later, it's up to the program to do its part. I guess we'll see if a coaching change will make a difference.

Some of my friends are high school coaches, and have told me in the past that schools are only willing to interview coaches with play off experience. I know I was having a conversation with one of you last night on Twitter about Haas from Cloverleaf, he seems to meet all the criteria you would want a candidate to have.

He would do well if he loses that Smithville offensive mentality. Wooster has too much speed and talent at QB to run a three yards and a cloud of dust offense.

Nothing against him, I like him as a coach. My comments are only related to him coaching at Wooster.

HAHAHAHA, yea right. Until another sport last year went to the Regional finals, I don't think he even knew it existed. He loves his football, especially now, and his precious track program but that is about where it ends with him.

This is definitely interesting reading. Here is my take on Harbour. He is not from this area (Upper Sandusky) so I would assume if he would look to move up he would like to move closer to his family. You also have to realize that he doesn't call the offense or the defense and even admitted in the paper that he doesn't know the offense well enough to call the plays. He would have to take almost his entire staff with him. A staff which now is all employed by the Norwayne system (LaChance, Indorf, and Sette). I've read on several of these threads during the season and I tend to agree. Teams can win big without great coaching. This years Norwayne team was nurtured all the way up from the early days of pee wee football. Anyone in the know in that community would tell you that they saw this coming for years. Harbour and his staff put them in a position to succeed but in many peoples opinion have done nothing to prove themselves yet. In the words of a friend of mine "Harbour was handed a gift". Norwayne is loaded again for next year. I cant see Harbour entire staff agreeing to go to Wooster with him. Let's see what Harbour does in a few years when the talent pools not quite as big or let's see what he does when he walks into a struggling program.

I think Wooster has to go with a Head coach with some experience, or at least a good assistant at a proven winner. The kids and the community really need a hire that's going to get them excited.

He was on staff over there once before...and never saw a Wooster team beat Orrville. Now he is the Orrville head and still has yet to see a Wooster team beat Orrville.

lol, when Doug was on the Wooster staff I don't think he saw them beat anyone ... and I'd imagine we'll get the lists of applicants when the time comes.
