I'm not in Cleveland either, and I think local sports radio is shit (Don't know about 92.3) but I think Holmgren and Heckert have done a fine job. Holmgren deserves some criticism for keeping Erica Womangini on as dead man walking but I understand his rationale behind it. Hiring Shurmur right now IMO is too soon to judge. Next year we're still terrible on offense, then yes by all means fire his ass. I have faith in Holmgren and Heckert and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do this offseason.

I think Heckert has done a good job. The issues with the local guys here with Holmgren are the Mangini thing, the fact that Holmgren said '5-11 is unacceptable...we'll do better', his comments about "rushing to sign Peyton Hillis...it's a priority" and the fact that Holmgren stays in his "ivory tower" and never comes forth to the media.

I have no issue with this because Holmgren has said that "this is Shurmur's baby" and that he'll be the face of the Browns to the media. President's don't typically call for press conferences when the media cries for it. Bud Shaw wrote an article in the PD this morning about Holmgren needing to come forward.

Holmgren has come down, twice this season. Not sure what the media wants to hear from him. Hell Heckert has been on the radio almost every week. Seems like the media is just starting shit and blowing smoke up the fan's asses. Typical of the shitty media in Cleveland. The Cleveland Radio is a bunch of crybabies. I mean seriously, Rizzo is a fucking idiot. He fired Sabrina and let her ignorant ass stay on air. That troll Hammer is a POS and I would love to knock his teeth out. RJ the movie critic, lol nuff said. Then you top it off with Ned and I just SMH. Why would I listen to this bum?

It's because he's "Mike Holmgren" and they seem to have forgotten that he's no longer a coach. Like I said, how many president's in the NFL are having press conferences throughout the year? I'm not in Baltimore but I don't hear of Ozzie Newsome having a presser everytime a local radio guy gets pissed.

Very true, makes me want to call up and pwn the radio guys. Doubt I'd get on though, I have all my teeth and don't believe in UFOs.

Booms is the worst on 92.3. He's been calling for Shurmur's head since the week 1 quick snap debacle against Cincinnati. Now he's moved on to Holmgren & Heckert. He wants to form some "occupy Berea" bullshit to try to oust the current regime. He's fucking annoying.

Guess the whiny media got to him. Holmgren to have press conference at 11:45am per OBR thread.

I seen that. They did not test for a concussion. Grounds to kick shurmur to the curb and not feel bad. I don't think the media or anybody would hot it against us.

Is Shurmur a doctor or on their training staff? No...NOT "grounds to kick him to the curb." Not his responsibility. His job is to coach. He doesn't necessarily do it well but it's not his job to play "doctor."

No. But he is the head coach. Any head coach that is in the nfl and sees a hit like that especially on his qb and doesn't make sure the trainers do a concussion test is a fucking moron and be relieved of his duties. Everybody that seen that hit should have known he had a concussion. How stupid can you be.

Cleveland media are notorious for running coaches and others out of town. Especially Plain Dealer writers.

I can tell you from 20 years of working media relations that there was only one group of reporters who thought their crap didn't stink, and that if they contacted you, they should always be moved to the head of the line where their requests were concerned (even if they were the last to make a request). Guess which newspaper...I think they train them to be as arrogant and obnoxious as possible.

They've done Cleveland sports teams no favors over the years, that's for sure.

As for the whole concussion debacle: this falls squarely on the medical staff. That same medical staff, by the way, that didn't seem to have a clue how long Hillis should be kept out for his hamstring problem and twice brought him back too soon.

I think a change will be made, and should be.

Tony Rizzo (WKNR) has the arrogance to believe that he, personally, can run any coaching staff out of Cleveland on a whim. I think the guy is a joke to be honest. Waste of air space.

LOL @ delusional Browns fans. Your front office sucks. Get rid of them and get some management that actually cares about putting a team together and maybe the Browns will win some games.

Delusional? Tell me what qb's Cleveland has ruined? As for the front office, I like heckert, and holmgren I'm not too sure about. I'm kinda hoping he will coach eventually

Tim Couch. On their way with Colt McCoy. If they drafted RGIII, him too.

lol i was about to say, talking shit about the Browns FO, if you are a Bengals fan that would have been comical. Lions FO has turned it around though.

The only QB who I can say his career was possibly ruined was Couch. He def had potential, the Browns just had no line, but that's what you get with an expansion team. David Carr would have been a better QB if he wasn't drafted by an expansion team as well imo.

McCoy is a bit of a stretch. I like the guy, but he was a third round pick.

Don't get me wrong, I root for the Browns unless they play the Lions. I just can't respect a front office that has fielded so many disappointing teams. I have to hand it to Browns fans, they are the MOST LOYAL fans in all sports IMO. In the back of your minds you know the Browns will most likely have a losing record every season, yet you keep the faith. Doesn't help that Baltimore and Pittsburgh are you in your division either.

I mentioned couch. I think he could have been a pretty good qb but they fucked up and didn't give him an o line. McCoy is a 3rd round pick I wouldn't say the browns ruined him, he's just not talented enough to be a good qb anywhere in the league.

Sometime I wish Lerner would sell the Browns to a football guy, I hate Jerry Jones but Jerry Jones will spend money and has more of an idea as to what he is doing than Lerner does

I agree somewhat. But if JJ wants his team to do well he needs to relinguish some power and hire a good GM and let him have control.

??

as far as the topic, there will always be franchise qb's available in later drafts. upgrade the team around the qb, and fill the needs that this team obviously has. If McCoy isn't the guy, get a free agent in there or let seneca run the show until we can get a qb to groom. I would feel much better bringing in a veteran that was actually capable, drafting a qb, and letting him get groomed than throwing a rookie to the dawgs in his first year, and having the media/fans react like they usually do.
