Current suspensions are a complete joke. Simple as that.

Thanks for actually having a well-formed and thought out opinion on the matter, and I'm not being sarcastic. Most people just resort to name-calling.

Anyways. English is a language yes, but by your definition, we are all speaking it incorrectly since we don't speak it like the British do. After all, it is THEIR language that we changed. What's that you said? Did you say schedule as in "skedyool"? I'm sorry its pronounced like "shedyool'. English, like any language, is ever-evolving. To take a snapshot of it at a certain point in time and say "this is the way it should be spoken, other ways are wrong" is to deny human nature. Your idea of a "proper" way to speak might be offensive to someone who is 85 years old.

I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying its a bit naive to think that there's a "proper" way to speak. Go travel to every corner of the US and let me know if everyone speaks the same way and if "Ya'll" is acceptable in places of business in, let's say, southern Texas. So its ok for them to say ya'll and for people in Pittsburgh to say "yins" and for people from Brooklyn to sound like they have a mouth full of marbles when they talk, but don't sound black.....because its not proper.

Sorry, but that's the truth. I don't hire blacks because they are black, I don't hire them because they sound like an idiot.

"The Xavier players that threw punches should be treated the same as the UC players that threw punches."

Their suspensions were much less.

In a civil suit Gates' lawyer would likely argue that as a player you assume certain risks by participating in a game, or even by inserting himself into the fight. Not sure if that would hold up or not.

It wouldn't hold up, just by participating in a sport doesn't mean you can't file a suit if you are harmed, sometime even if the harm was unintentional - see Orlando Brown who got millions from the NFL after the ref accidentally hit him with his marker.

The problem with a suit against Gates is a matter of damages, how harmed was Frease? He got medical attention, he didn't seem particularly emotionally distressed and will likely play in the next game. If Gates' punch resulted in blindness in one eye, it is very likely a suit would be successful, if not settled.

I don't really know what to think about that. I don't like it, but I can see why they would. Personally, I'd wait and see what/if the NCAA does anything. It could just all be a little propaganda to get the NCAA to add more? I dunno.

Is he also going to prosecute the other players who threw punches. I assume you must believe that the other players weren't "really" throwing punches or trying to hurt anybody. Must be punches like they throw on Monday Night Raw in the WWE.

Is Deters going to investigate Tu Holloway's punch he threw at UC forward Ibrahima Thomas last year or the intentional head butt Frease laid on Gates three years ago (note: UC did not retailiate to either incident). How about expanded his prosecutorial powers over to Indianapolis and investigate allegations the Xavier players trashed the Butler locker room and busted a drinking fountain?

Before you think I am just making this stuff up, here are some links confirming some of my points:

at Butler
head butts

P.S. Interesting. I noted on the Butler link there was a comment about a Xavier player punching a Butler player while shaking hands at the end of the game 20 years ago. The guy received a whopping ten minute suspension for the next game.

You're really not taking it too well that the UC program is an afterthought, are you?

If Yancey goes to jail, it'll be just another black man doing what black people do. I wouldn't be surprised if he's already spent a night or two in there.

Cincinnati: 2 NCAA championships, 6 final fours, 25 NCAA tournament appearances.

Xavier: 0 NCAA championships, 0 final fours, 21 NCAA tournament appearances.

Xavier has had a couple of good years, but this IS and ALWAYS will be UC's town. The community college known as Xavier is an afterthought.

I also don't hire whites, blacks, asians, and latinos if they sound like idiots. But I highly doubt that you are hiring anyone trust me. Let me put it to you this way I have hired several and I mean roughly 60+ kids from the fine institution you claim that you go to. From Fisher College as well as from your college of Engineering. They have been from all backgrounds and races. I have also not given a second thought about even giving an interview to anyone from that couldn't put together a coherent sentence.

You have to be the dumbest person on this site! You really need to get out of your little box son. Like I stated before I loathe black people that play the race card and I equally loathe white people like you that act like it's the end of the world when they do.

I hear you can get some pretty good tickets on Groupon.

UC has made it past the 2nd round of the tournament 4 times in the last 40 years. Xavier has done that 4 times in the last 7 years. Don't come at me with your National Championships from the 60's, San Fransisco has 2 national championships too, I don't think anyone would claim they have a better basketball program than anyone at this point because, just like UC, they came so long ago that nobody really remembers, or cares.

UC has beaten Xavier 4 times in the last 10 years and 5 times in the last 15. When you say that you are anywhere near the recent success of Xavier in basketball..well I just don't know what to say.

Your national titles are from when an argument can be made the NIT was actually better. Get off it.
