Alright, so last night I was watching the Xavier-Butler game with some of my XU buddies, and they were talking about how Holloway and Lyons are the best backcourt in the nation and how much better they are than Craft and Buford, and I just had to lol. So I'd like to get some opinions on this. I'll post stats below even though they obviously don't go in my favor, but just wanted to get the opinion of the OC on the better duo. Discuss
While Holloway and Lyons definitely fill the stat sheet more than Bufford and Craft. You can't rate Craft just upon the stats. In college basketball this year there is no player I'd rather have than Craft at the point. He just destroys opposing guards.

Craft is the best defensive player in the country. Buford is probably a top 5 guard in the country.
I'll take Ohio State.

Holloway is incredible, but Buford is way better than Lyons in my opinion.

Holloway is a punk. UC held his ass in check last year, I think he scored all but 2 pts. He also did not show up against Marquette and some other better teams. I still have my doubts about him against better competition.

First of all...he had 5 against UC last year.
And even Cronin said that had the two three-pointers that Tu took early in the game fallen instead of going in-and-out, Tu would have probably had a completely different game.
And when Tu goes off Saturday, you can blame that punk Kilpatrick.

Yes. Because UC didn't "hold him in check." Instead, he had a few balls bounce the wrong way to start the game and it threw off the rhythm. Happens all the time in the game.
One thing UC did do well last year was keep Tu off the free throw line. I think he only went to the line two or three times instead of his usual 10-15.

2pts... 5pts... not a whole heck of a lot of difference.
Yeah Kilpatrick talked some smack, but that happens by both sides before the shootout. IIRC, Chris Mack said some pretty nasty stuff last year on twitter. To go back to the OP, I guess SK would take Craft and Buford over the Xavier duo (as well as the UC backcourt over Hollway and Lyons).
I am going to post another thread on the Crosstown Shootout.

Terrell Holloway is the best of the 4. But Lyons, while really tough, is 4/4. So I guess Id rather have the combo of OSU over X. But I wouldnt dismiss it TOO quickly. Terrell (Tu is just gay and Ill never call him that) is #1, so that alone makes the discussion legit.

Xavier is the consistent little brother of Ohio basketball. Of course their fans are going to say stupid stuff like that.

How did that Presbyterian game go this year? Or is it one of those things that because no one was there, it just never happened?

And as far as the question goes, if you look solely at just these 2 guys on each team, I think you have to take Holloway and Lyons. But that is simply because Craft and Buford have significantly a more impressive supporting cast if they have an off night.

Craft because of his defense, and Buford because he is clutch...period.

Holloway has been the most clutch player in the country so far this season.

As a duo, Craft and Buford.
As a single player, Holloway.
Though Buford can fill it up as well.

You can't really go wrong with either one. I'll take craft and Buford just bc of crafts defense. I hate the buckeyes but I do enjoy watching this team play there fun to watch.

No, but it means choosing Buford because he's "clutch... period" isn't a good criteria when one of the other options is more clutch.
It's like choosing a rhinoceros "because it is heavy" when one of the other options is an elephant.

Hate to say it (as a Buckeye fan) but Buford wasn't "clutch" last year against Kentucky. I'll never fully forgive him for not passing to diebler on the last play...Unless we win it all this year
With that said, I would still take craft and buford beacuse I think if they played 2 on 2, they would win because Craft would lock Tu down and Will would light Lyons up

Holloway and Lyons for me before this melee all started. Not anymore. No need for him to talk crap like that and instigate all this.
