I saw and heard this happen in wrestling also where the Anthem would not play and someone started to sing and the crowd joined in, it is a neat moment.Jmar25;1295646 wrote:Never happened.... This is made up. Nice Try
Unless you were at every game Paul was don't say it did not happen.

I was at this game as well. Not a Norwayne fan... but was greatly impressed by the kid that showed the respect to people that gave the ultimate sacrafice so we may sit at our computers and complain about it.
It is a big deal, if we cannot teach our kids to respect the flag and the National Anthem, we are doing a disjustice to them and those that serve in our military service.

In the home games at Smithville the teams are seldom on the field for our National Anthem. The band plays it during the pre game show and then marches to form a tunnel, thats when the team takes the field. I guess I never thought about much, All I know is I stand and remove my hat!

Triway football games (both home and away) have all been the same way as oldsmithie described. I consider it out of the ordinary (but not necessarily a bad thing) when a team's players are out on the field for the national anthem. No big deal either way, IMO.oldsmithie;1295714 wrote:In the home games at Smithville the teams are seldom on the field for our National Anthem. Same here. When I was on the team, we always just came out after it. Didn't even really know what went on outside the lockerroom when we weren't there.oldsmithie;1295714 wrote:In the home games at Smithville the teams are seldom on the field for our National Anthem. As it is now, I always stand up straight, remove my hat, and place it over my heart. Patriotism can be a wonderful thing as we show respect to our origins and the beliefs in freedom and liberty that our forefathers fought and died to establish. Patriotism should not be used to establish some sort of inequality, coercion, start divisive arguments, or be used as a vehicle for puffing someone up (think: the woman in church who tries to make sure everyone knows how spiritual she is ... and then apply it to patriotism).

At Dalton we have a fighter jet flyover, let off patriotic balloons and have a 21 gun salute before every game. I'm sick of the rest of you commies!!

At this point I would have to agree with 1486. Hillsdale does not have the package we have had the last couple of years and I think Norwayne is at least as good as last season. I will still hope I am wrong.1486wd;1295814 wrote:IMO, norwayne wins by three scores at least

HuskyFoolball manages to insult Smithville and give Norwayne bulletin board material with 3 sentences and less than 50 words!!!.....8 posts into his OC career!!!
I see video tapes in this kids future.
If the Huskies get slain in week 10......will we ever hear from HuskyFoolball again?
I vote no.....most blowhards (I'm the exception) run and hide when all their tough talk turns out to be blustering bullcrap.
