I am looking for a speaker system for the wife for christmas. She will be using an iphone 4 to play the music from. It needs to be semi portable as well. Easy to move room to room around the house.

Any recomendations?

My current contenerders. Mostly because I can get a steep discount on TDK and Xtremac products.

The driver in iPhones/iPods isn't incredible, so it's pointless to shell out a ton of money on speakers. Get whatever is practical.

Just get her one of those $70 docks from Walmart and she'll be content with it. Women don't care what it sounds like because they're stupid.

He said it.

The Bose SoundDock is awesome. There are a few models. My dad has the lower end one...I think around $250-300ish. He got it at Sam's Clubs.

I have the JBL OnStage IV, great sound in a small package...ultra portable. You can find it for $100ish.

The Bose 901's are great sounding. Not much bass but if you like acoustic music the 901's are nice.

So there. neen'er neen'er.

Yeah but they are way overpriced for what they are. Again, not all Bose stuff is crap but what isn't is just as overpriced as their bad speakers. They are the Monster Cable of audio.

Can't disagree there. A lot businesses only sell because of brand name, look at Honda in the auto industry. Most Japanese people prefer Toyota's and Nissan's, over what's considered the "economy brand" of Honda's.
