[h=3]Rose To Sign Five-Year, $94M Extension[/h]Dec 20, 2011 9:12 PM EST
Derrick Rose and the Bulls have agreed to a five-year, $94 million contract extension, according to sources.
Rose's extension is for roughly $10-11 million more than he would have been eligible to sign under the previous CBA.
The extension will begin in the 2012-13 season and is eligible to start near $16 million in the first year.

Probably tore his ligament while trying to hold onto his run away rape victim.

A variety of reasons, the biggest is that 8 teams make the playoffs. You make the playoffs unless you suck pretty hard.

Plus most good teams don't take the regular season seriously. Watch how many games the Celtics, Lakers, and Spurs make their best players miss. They could care less who they play against in the playoffs.

Watch the overall play and intensity of the bad teams. The amount of defense and 'offense' they run is laughable.

That's just a few

Lakers need everyone firing on all cylinders from the get go, I look for Gasol to bounce back from those playoffs and have his best year of his career.

I disagree about it being meaningless this year because of the shortened season. Him missing 3 weeks(14 games) would be huge on playoff seeding. In that span at BEST they go like 6-8 without kobe. If they start off bad enough they could end up with a 5th or 6th seed and that would NOT be good.

Teams don't care about who they play in the playoffs? You think the Lakers would rather host a team like Portland or go to OKC in the playoffs? Those things absolutely matter to teams

If anything, missing time this season is even more hurtful because of the increased amount of games in any given timespan. Last year 3 weeks could cost him 9-10 games and this year would cost him 14. Not to mention with a shortened season each game has more of an impact on the playoff picture.

WTF kind of logic are you using Jordo? Because as COA said, it's "laughable at best".

Didn't Memphis tank a game or two at the end of last year to make sure they got matched up with San Antonio? These things obviously matter to the teams.

[h=3]Nets Ink DeShawn Steveson[/h]Dec 22, 2011 10:21 AM EST
The Nets have reached an agreement with DeShawn Stevenson and will sign the veteran today.

The 30-year-old will be playing for his fifth team in 12 seasons, after starting 52 games last season for the Mavericks. He has career averages of 7.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Stevenson will join a crowded backcourt that includes rookie MarShon Brooks, but is versatile enough to play small forward.
