Plus, he's just not good enough to justify all of his shady ways.

In addition to Fickell, apparently the Zooker is a possibility at Pitt.

Apparently, Penn State representatives have contacted Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo.
Not true.

"...“Just talked to coach Niumatalolo and he said it wasn’t true,” athletic director for sports information Scott Strasemeier wrote to the Inquirer in an email. ”I also talked to our athletic director, Chet Gladchuk, and he said when we signed coach Niumatalolo to a long-term contract on April 21 that he said he wanted to coach at the Naval Academy for the rest of his life and there is no reason to believe that has changed.

“I can also confirm that Penn State has not contacted Navy.”..."

I'll never understand why people think coaches are just going to come out and say "Yeah, we've talked and I'll probably accept the job shortly". They always deny, look at Urban, case closed.

They never say such a thing that I know of. Who thinks they would?

Regarding Penn State and Niumatalolo, both parties have now confirmed that there was never contact and Penn State has no interest in even talking to him.

The rumors are simply untrue and it's common sense. Navy's Coach is nowhere near what Penn State needs.

Ellis Johnson, the "assistant head coach for the defense" at South Carolina, has taken over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

Akron will not be getting Paul Winters, he signed an extension at Wayne State through 2016. Unless, of course, he becomes the next weasel coach. Akron will probably be getting Scot Loeffler, the OC at Temple.

Pitt may have hired Mario Cristobal, who is head coach at FIU. He asked Pitt to refrain from publicizing it until after the bowl game (tonight).

Interesting. Hiring a 65-year old, first year head coach. Norm must've really wanted a nice retirement location.

Bowden is a legit hire. If Auburn hadn't been under sanctions his first year, there is a good chance he would have a NC to his name.

Yeah, and LOL @ karen for mocking a coach that Akron hires..as if they're expected to get some top coach.

LOL at saying he's a good coach because LJ said so. Do some reading from sources other than pro Akron people and LJ and see what everyone else thinks.

exactly. We had our own alum, home town guy (Paul Winters) who is a d2 coach at Wayne State turn us down to stay there. I hear mixed reports..some say we offered Temple's OC and he turned us down, some say we never offered him.

Either way this came out of nowhere (maybe a little help with Bowden's connection to Faust) and is a really big step up from what we were looking at..

139-63 and 2-1 in bowls and 4-4 in tournys. First coach to ever go undefeated in his first season as a D1-A coach. He ran away because he was going to most likely get hammered for violations.

2-1 in bowl games makes him a bad coach? That's logical thinking.
