It wouldn't change? are you saying the same 2 teams would have ended up in the NC game the last 13 years even if there was a 8 or 12 team playoff?

What I'm saying is that implementing a play-off now isn't going to change the past. What you or I think would've happened in a different system is irrelevant. The format IS and will continue to be a single, two team championship game so the more relevant discussion topic is how to select those two teams.

In evaluating how well the current system of selecting two teams has done, the flaws haven't typically affected the ultimate outcome, so there's no real reason for mass overhaul.

OK, thanks for clarifying, I know its not going to change the past but I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on how well the current system has done in selecting the 2 best/most deserving teams. The best way imo is a playoff and if thats not going to happen the current system needs some major changes as the article you linked has also said.
