For college football to operate like any other "professional sport", that's basically what we consider it, it would have to totally change how they design the season and the landscape of the sport. Because of conference affiliations, TV contracts, athletic budgets, alumni donations, etc...no college sport can be like a professional sport.

I'd be all for it, if we took college football, eliminated conferences, played a comprehensive schedule like the pros and had a tournament to decide things. It would be done on the field every year. However, I do think changes like this will create even more controversy and stir up even more haters than the BCS currently does. Look at what has transpired just with the recent conference re-alignment.

Stanford or osu. The both can score the ball and I really don't want to see another lsu bama snooze fest. I think Stanford would have the best chance bc they have the better d.

In-terms of preference.

1. Alabama
2. Oklahoma State

Either 1 or 2 is fine. Both had great seasons. Both would deserve a title shot. Stanford would not. Virginia Tech would not. Both Alabama and OSU facing LSU would give a unique feel to the game. Either the two best defenses or the best defense against the best offense.

I also think LSU is a lock regardless of whether they beat UGA or not.

I really can't see a scenario in which LSU is not in the title game. Win or lose they are in. My assumption is the title game is set. LSU vs. Alabama. Personally, I would like to see Oklahoma St.'s offense vs. LSU's defense. I think it would make for an entertaining game.

Even if LSU and Bama play again, I dont think it would be like the first game. I bet at least 40 points would be scored combined.

Apparently you didn't get the BCS memo. 2 teams can and will play for the National Championship of College Football FBS D-1A even if NEITHER team wins its own conference.

I'm not a big "we should do it this way because someone else does" person. I believe you go with what works. I prefer play-offs because I've been conditioned to expect them. I'm okay with the BCS because I believe it does fine for college football, including accomplishing much more good for more people than just college football fans (read: providing a means to support sports and athletic programs that wouldn't otherwise generate enough money to exist - this includes low-rent programs like Boise State who have seen unprecedented heights and financial windfalls via this system).

As a general statement, who cares? People clamor for a play-off and tout the NCAA basketball tournament, but those each either would (and do where they exist) or do offer opportunities to plenty of teams who didn't win a division/conference title. If you like other sports' setups, how could you possibly be hung up on a team who didn't win its division because they lost to the single best team in the sport?

But if I had a vote that counted, I'd go by the overall resume, considering the following (assuming all current one loss teams win out....and even accounting for an LSU loss):

If Oklahoma State loses to Oklahoma, I think Alabama is a no-brainer, but is the Cowboys win, I'd vote them over Alabama.

Great post! People act like bama has played much better teams then osu when In reality they haven't.i do think osu has to beat Oklahoma by at least 2 scores to jump bama

This is a great post; puts a lot of light on some things. Like Con said, you just kind of showed that Okie State and Bama aren't separated by that much.

Mike May (douche) likes to say that Alabama hasn't lost in regulation (as if it matters). Well, neither has Okie State (as of yet).

If we have to see a rematch via LSU and Bama there needs to be a federal investigation into the fraud that is the BCS system. I don't think Bama goes through the B1G with only loss(they lose to MSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin), and we've already seen that LSU is the better team than Bama.

Bama had their chance, at home at that. What if Bama gets in and beats LSU? They shouldnt be crowned champion. IMO, the only team that deserves to face them is OSU, that is if they can get past OU.

I don't buy this at all. Everybody knows it is the championship game. It is what you want, you just want more teams to play up to it. In the NFL, you have to go through a playoff to get, and earn a chance at the best. Alabama has one loss, as does OSU. Alabama already had their chance, OSU deserves one. That is the only way a true champion will be crowned this year, IMO.
