hey takeaknee quit saying things that arent true. I go to the same high school as kent did. his death had nothing to do with bullying! everyone at DSJ loved kent and no one intentionally tried to hurt kents feelings or bully him. people have been saying that the kent staup fan club on facebook was bullying him and saying mean things . . that is absolutely false! the group was about putting quotes that kent said that made them laugh or just stupid stuff he said that people enjoyed. Kent would never take crap from anyone and if he was mad he would let you know. This makes me believe that bullying was not the reason for his death,but the sad thing is we will probably never find out what the true reason was. i knew kent personally and he was one of the most determined kids i have ever met. kent would never give up on anything no matter how tough it was! he had many friends who loved him. kent will be greatly missed by everyone in delphos. I MISS YOU KENT STAUP! SEE YOU IN HEAVEN!!!:cry:

Honestly that is what is so hard about this. No one understands, and everyone feels like it could have prevented if only someone did something. I think that is why people are looking for a reason why. Right now there are no clear answers and I'm not sure if there ever will be.

prayers from Dover. It is a sad thought that anyone, young or old, student or teacher............anyone, I mean anyone that thinks taking their own life is the only way out. Our family dealt with this as our sons first college roommate took his life as a junior in college.

takeaknee isn't the only person out there saying it was bullying, fyi. Google Kent's name ... there's a thread out there started by a young girl (?) who seems to have known the young man, too. I put this out there just so you are aware. Sometimes people laugh on the outside when on the inside, not so much.

RIP Kent and I hope all of your family, friends find the answers they need.

Seeing that the young man committed suicide, doesn't the above statement tend to speak to the contrary?

Series62 and DeyDukies 5, those are incredibly cruel and inappropriate statements. You should be ashamed.

edinburgh, 40+ of Kent's best friends, classmates and teammates, say the bullying rumor is just that, a rumor. Some anonymous person posts something online and you instantly believe it? If that's the case, then I'm a Nigerian prince. If someone knows something, tell someone face to face and have the facts to back it up. Don't hide behind a keyboard and an online name.

I am curious ... The Kent Staup Fan Club page that was mentioned earlier ... if it was harmless, is it still in existence? I tried to find it and could not. So, I'm just wondering, why not leave it up? I saw a new one started to memorialize him.

Delphosfan ... try to remember, you are dealing with kids here. Kids who are possibly scared of something they saw or heard or know. The internet is their outlet. I am amazed, as I read these boards, at what these kids are dealing with today .... it's a scary world out there.

I think it might serve EVERYONE well in your school/community to dig further into this issue ... I don't think it really matters whether or not the kids THOUGHT they were bullying Kent; what matters is what was said on that Facebook page and how Kent might have felt about it. Sometimes we need to all take a step back and look at ourselves and ask ourselves, are we doing unto others as we would have done to ourselves?

actually the "Kent Staup Fan Page" is still up on facebook. the community and family don't need the idiotic posts either. no one knows the real reason and we never will. that's something Kent took with him, it's also something we need to accept.

i would also like to say that we are a family at DSJ. I'm so glad i'm part of it too. you may not agree with me and say that we're "competitive" and there is so much "pressure" on us students. but you know what? it's like that at every highschool. i'm also sorry for those of you who went to SJ and didn't feel the closeness to the community. it's a very good atmosphere to be in and i am blessed to have growth up there.

Words of any type are so profoundly inappropriate at times like this... Thoughts... prayers... probing questions... or logical reasons... None of the above will bring this young man back to us. I can only imagine that at times like this everyone that knew this young man is dealing with the grief and unreasonable expectations that they should have seen it coming, and associated guilt that goes with it, as illogical and unrealistic as it may be. To the DSJ community, Kent's friends, and especially his family, know that we would do anything to ease this pain that has fallen upon you, if only we could, and do pray for your emotional recovery, to never forget young Kent, but to remember without today's pain. As for the OC, please allow these young people to grieve in reverence and respect for the tragic loss of this young man. Imagine if it were your family.

People truly can be ruthless....This is something that NEVER goes away....I lost my brother in the same manor at the age of 21...its been 5 years and I still deal with issues. Why didn't I see it....what could I have done different...always looking for closure...never subsiding to acceptance.

Don't beat yourself up. Its not uncommon for anyone, even those closest to the person, to ever see anything that would make them think that person was going to take their life.

To some of those who are talking about the "pressures" of DSJ or even the bullying rumors, just stop. The bottom line here is, that most of those who do take their lives are in fact, mentally ill. Its not something that can be seen from the outside. Its an inner issue where that person is in so much pain on the inside, that they want a way out. And often, that way out is suicide. Its a sad reality. It is not often from an outside source that creates this.
All we can do now, is pray and support the family and community.
BTW, DSJ is a great place. A graduate of many years ago, to this day, I have nothing but great memories of the time I spent there. It was such a family atmosphere of togetherness.
