So its possible that Oregon gets rewarded for losing to the same team that Alabama lost to because they are not in the same league as LSU. The top 2 teams in the nation can't come from the same Division let alone the same conference? P.S with this thinking of can't win a division title=can't win a National or World title, your boy Kobe would have one less ring (still more than LeBron, I know).
Pretty much this. It'd be different if there was a playoff in college football and then Bama got to the title game, but since there isn't, you can't put them in the title game because they are THOUGHT to be the next best team. At least in a playoff, a team can prove they are the next best even if they didn't win their division. Conferences don't win championships and every title the SEC has won the in past 10 years is disputed in one way or another. I think you may just be thinking about the talk around Georgia that year. They finished 2nd in the final AP Poll and leading up to the SEC title game, there was talk that if LSU was upset that Georgia might have a shot at the National Title without even playing in the SEC Championship. I don't think it would've happened anyway (I think they were like 4th or 5th in the final BCS standings before the bowls), but there was a lot of talk that they might've jumped some teams in the human polls (VT, Oklahoma, and USC were all in the mix) had LSU been beaten.
