I see we'll play all the red division teams twice and the gray once. Do they all count toward the league title? Separate titles for large and small divisions just like football I suppose(?)

Hopefully Bobby will be short his football players for a few more weeks!!!!

You have it Red twice Gray once all count, seperate titles. A Red school could play a gray school twice but only the pre designated game would count.

Dover off to a 3-0 (1-0 ECOL) start. Pretty surprising after the late start for a majority of their players because of their playoff run in football. Dover Junior PG Mason Mamarella is leading the team in scoring at just over 22 ppg. They host Marietta on Friday.

Ouch!
We all knew NP would be tough but I wasn't expecting THAT! Great shooting and superb defense team wide.

Can't help but admire a performance like that. I'd like to see NP lose on Feb 17th, but until then - Go Quakers! (Good God - Did I really say that!)

That was a butt whipping. Dover will have a lot of tough games coming up.
The future looks pretty bright tho,the reserves are looking good with some size and 3 freshmen playing on the reserve team,in the meantime I think the freshmen team is unbeaten without 3 players.

but whippin was right.i like the fact there are officials that didnt put up with the crap from the dover bench.throwing the jacket should have been the second t on him.looks like mason is the only one that is going to score consistantly for dover.he is going to be great.

I think B.V.K. wanted the T to try and fire up what appeared to be an unfocused Dover team. I really don't think you can T up a coach for removing his jacket,no matter how forcefully he removed it, he usually throws it to his wife to keep till after the game.

YEP - Ya just gotta know Bobby - sometimes it's just the strategy.

Dover aside, there is some good basketball being played this year in the ECOL!
Wish I'd been at the Claymont-Rosecrans game!

Claymont appears to be the 2nd best team in the entire ECOL,just a whisker behind Zanesville. That Claymont/Rosecrans game had some pretty high drama according to the T.R. rematch should be intresting.

I don't know how BVK does it but he has Dover looking
much improved.
The Rosecrans and ZHS games were both winnable, beat
1 loss John Glenn tuesday and a 13 point win over
Claymont last night. Final game is phila, might be very
Intresting

His teams are always disciplined and play good defense....that goes a long way.

If they keep getting 10+ points out of Swinderman they look like a much better team. Mamarella has shown he is about to get his against pretty much everyone so far, if Swinderman can develop into a decent 2nd option they will be OK down the stretch. He seems pretty confident with that 15-18' jumper. Their lack of size and scoring from the other perimeter players besides Mamarella will still be too much for them to overcome against the better teams they play, but I have thought they have looked much better this week after not seeing them play since their game at Phila.

Another nice defensive game tonight 37-23 over
Cambridge. The bobcats have the look of a really
good team but looks don't win games.
One of the more spirited crowds tonight the place was
rockin. Great job Dover!!!

Bobby's gotta be real happy with that...holding the Bobcats to 2 points in the first quarter and 4 in the second is one sweet defensive effort! We shot with a cold hand much of the night but the D certainly gave us a solid win. (I wish we could have the Rosecrans game back)

Best student section of the year and 'parting the red sea' was a real crowd pleaser!

BVK gets his kids to play every year reguardless of size and talent. I saw them at a scrimmage with Hiland. Dover had just gotten their football players back. They looked bad and Hiland smoked them. Its amazing how much better they are playing now.

I see the Times Reporter has Dover listed at 9-5 (4-4), but I've got them at 10-5 (5-4).

They are definitely playing better now than they were when I saw them earlier in the season. Mamarella is still carrying most of the load on offense, but Swinderman and Farmer seem to have their basketball legs back and Ravine and Alexander are getting after it on defense on the perimeter. They could use 1 more guy to step up on offense, but Bobby has them playing well as we get late in the season. Will be interesting to see how they finish with a pretty tough last 5 games:
v Coshocton (11-4)
@ Marietta (6-7)
@ Zanesville (10-3)
@ Canton South (5-9)
v New Philadelphia (10-4)

Mason should be ECOL player of the year in my opinion.
Last nights performance was special, also gotta credit his
Teammates for setting picks and feeding him

Next up,the team across the river, they think Dover will
be an easy win,I think we surprise them

I'm ready to see us even the score against Phila. There will be no embarrassing them as they did us in the first round but we can play with them.
I trust Bobby has tuned the boys up on getting round the press. As well as it worked for Phila last time I can't imagine we'll not see it again until we show we can beat it!

According to the TR, the Quakes haven't beaten Dover twice in the same season since the 1990-91 campaign. BVK's record against that team from across the river is 35-8 during his career at Dover. Should be a festive one tonight.

Dover was blasted game 1. Mason played that game with a bad wheel,Jake D was recovering from football injury so our guard spot was pretty thin that made the press especially effective.
Demetrious and Derik need to have good games at both ends of the court and stay out of foul trouble for Dover to pull it off. Mason just has to "do what he do"

The attitude across the river is completely disrespectful considering they are 8-35 since B.V.K. came aboard, time for an attitude adjustment.
