Honestly I would rather see them kick it out of bounds every time. The handoffs have to be better-too many times they were at the upper chest instead of into the gut. We were lucky we only fumbled the one late in the game there could have been many more. My biggest concern was the overall conditioning of the players. Yes it was hot but I have never seen a team suck more wind and hunch over more then I did last night. The talent is there and I thought the play calling was really good. Hopefully Zook is alright and we can learn from the mistakes and get better. Just my opinion of course but overall it was a great win in Week 1
The reason the handoffs are so high is because they run everything out of the shotgun. I can't understand why they never put the qb under center.

He is only a freshman? I went and watched most of the JV game, and was very impressed with his pocket presence and passing ability. Wasn't sure who he was, but didn't think he was a freshman.

I watched the second quarter and was very impressed with the QB. Quite impressed with the overall effort of all the boys.Coaching appeared to be solid as well. Kudos to the JV team and coaches.

troll king it does not matter if they are out of the shotgun or not. If you know anything about Orrville you would know that we are out of the shotgun the majority of the time.

Red Rider Nation, I would not lose too much sleep on the condition of this team, let me make a couple of points, If you have followed the articles on line or in the paper, you might have picked up coach’s comments, on the work ethic of this team, I am paraphrasing but he said, as a unit this is the hardest work GROUP of boys, he has had, I know there has been a lot of young men in the past that worked extremely hard so this comment is not to take away anything from them, but as a group these guys work their tails off, this is a close knit bunch of boys, the boys that were cramping Harrison, Zane, Bj, and some others play both ways, and then you can look at the fact that two-a-days were not as hot as a normal August, and our two scrimmages were not that hot either, you could call that a blessing or a curse, but it is what it is. Hope that makes you feel better.

not as hot as a normal August??? Really. It was pretty hot this August. There are a lot of reasons for cramps and not all have to do with being in shape. Some are more prone than others, maybe the food/drinks they had been drinking or not enough...The other factor is no matter how hard you practice can't simulate a true game senario. What ever it is lets hope the cramps don't come back next week unless it is because every other play is a long run/catch for a TD for the Riders...

How about running the option with Bryce, That would be exciting. The current qb still can't see open receivers or throw accurately. Plus he takes way to long to throw the ball to an open receiver. When he stairs only at the primary receiver the defense knows where the ball is going. It always end up a pick or near pick. Not to mention he still throws everything behind or above the receivers head. Why not move him to a receiver position and let short run the option. Just a thought.

So do I! This is a talented team with lots of young hard working hungry players. It's going to be an exciting season. Good luck this friday and beat those Titans!

Fox8's SkyFox will roam the skies over Heartland Field this Friday. Should be a great night in the 'Ville.

Probably the most excitement around a game at home since the 2003 Orrville-Wooster game which was the 100th anniversary of the 1st game in the series. We had all the dignitaries there that night.

Where's Mo's salt pills for cramps when we need them. When we didn't take them they put them in the drinking water. Pickle Juice?

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

Troll Bryce is about 125lbs soaking wet with his close on. Not really interested in him taking hits on the option all night. Get him the ball in space and let him make people miss.

I disagree with you on Kyle, after seeing the two scrimmages and first game, I think he looks better this year, sure he is going to make mistakes from time to time, and Bryce will do just fine when his time comes, also try and remember the players read these posts, so before you run a 17 year old over with your bus of I was perfect in high school, you might consider easing up a bit.

Troll you may think you are stating facts but in essence you are not unless you have had the fortune of breaking down a film, knowing what play was called, knowing the progression the QB is supposed to take, and knowing the correct route and to which shoulder the receiver should look for the ball. My guess is you don't have that luxury, I am not trying to pick on you, I just know that without that knowledge assumptions can be made, both good and bad, about a particular performance. That performance could be of an individual or a group in general. I must admit I have been where you are too many times and then had to eat some crow when I learned that what appeared to be going on Friday night was quite different than what I "watched" live or replay. It's all good to have an opinion and everything said on here doesn't have to be all nicey nicey. Just keep those thoughts in mind when judging. And about "kids" reading the board......don't , this is for old men(women) who can't play anymore. lol

so his receivers must still be running wrong routs because he looks the same as he did two years ago.

First lesson of message boards I learned long ago when JJ was still popular: Don't feed the trolls. Anyone who deems themselves 'King' of said trolls wants to stir up trouble & little else.

5knots, well said.
