If that can't get you ready to practice nothing will. Looks great!

Here are a couple of pics from last night 2xDays. The guys were sure pumped up in the locker room when Coach announced that they would be on the field for the second half of practice.

Very nice and something that adds additional pride to the community!
I had a flash back, seeing Coach Tipton standing at mid field as we lined up on the goal line after every home game to pick up / replace divits!
These kids have it way to easy! lol
Have a great season and break this new field in with many W's.

4 more wins for 600 all time. Not too many schools in the state can boast 600 wins & 20+ playoff appearances.

That is an impressive number both in wins and playoff appearances.

I didn't want to post a point that was brought up on the Haas thread over there because it would appear to be bragging.
But seeing that 26-10 record against Wooster off of RR1's cool all-time list makes me smile.
(one thing, big guy, get that 2011 score on there!

Here's a list with the 2011 result added....
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9bvEKpyPwUaQk04N3JEXzQ3X3c/edit
As of today, it's been 2,469 days (and counting) since the streak started.
Since 1975, Orrville has won 26 out of 36 meetings.
Since 1975, Orrville has outscored Wooster 854-465 (average per game score of 23.7-12.9)...nearly a 2:1 ratio.
Wooster hasn't won a decade of games since the 1960's. (5 wins, 2 losses, 3 ties).

Those pictures of that turf are sweet! Great for Orrville football, well deserved! Best of luck as 2 a days progress. I enjoy reading these posts from the Orrville faithful, always have.

What are the biggest position battles going into the season?

I would say the QB position. B.Short showed a lot of promise last season on JV and turned some heads. He just needed some size, the kid has a cannon for a small guy and damn is he fast when he tucks the ball and runs.OQB;1238766 wrote:What are the biggest position battles going into the season?

I've heard Bryce is impressing coaches with his overall football smarts. He'll see the field on both sides of the ball.
In the 7-on-7 I watched, Kyle was the more complete QB, but I'd have no problem with giving Bryce some snaps as sort of a wildcat/option QB.
We'll need to pick our spots with that b/c it could get predictable.

The BIGGEST question mark will be our O-line...we won't be very big upfront, but we will be playing guys with experience.
Athletically...we will be just fine in that category.
Team speed overall will be better this year than last. We will play fast, but that doesn't mean a thing if we can't get our athletes/playmakers the ball in their hands to make things happen with their legs!

Glad to hear Bryce is doing well....It's always an advantage to have an athletic QB to pose threats to the defense. I could see Coach Davault playing both him and Kyle this season....respecting the senior QB and letting him start, but building for the future with Bryce getting him valuable playing time and experience at the varsity level.

As of right now Bryce is only seeing snaps on second team. Coaches have had him on first team as a WR giving Kyle most all the snaps on first team. Anything is subject to change this was only the 3rd day of 2x days so a little bit early to say what the Coaches will come up with.
I see them giving Kyle to nod to start at QB because of the experience and size but no matter if it's this year or next Bryce will be at the helm leading the Riders. It's almost like what we had a few years ago with B.W. at QB and J.B. coming off the bench. We had experience in B.W. but once they brought in the under sized little fast J.B. and seen what he could do with his speed they leaned towards the rookie and groomed him to carry the Riders the rest of the year. It's almost the exact situation all over again. One thing for sure it's nice to have options and at the QB position here in the Ville it's like talent pool never ends.

That's exactly what I was thinking....Kyle has to become a mentor/coach and know he is helping the future of orrville football and get Bryce ready to take over the reigns. It's definitely hard and being a senior QB with experience it's tough, but knowing you are helping the program succeed makes it worth it.

It can be very hard for 15-18 year olds (and even their parents) to understand that sometimes you just have to do whats best for the team, even if it means not playing as much on one side of the ball or even if you have to change positions. Just do it, live with it, and move on!

Kyle will be the QB in my opinion. The main reason is it is a way to get another athlete on the field. Bryce can play other positions and will.

It will be interesting to see if we can get the running plays to develop outside the tackles, if that happens, I like our chances, with the guards pulling, you have Kick, who is a tuff as nails on one side and Brown who is strong and fast (for a lineman) on the other, and with summers coming out of the backfield, that should free up some running room.
