I'm firmly in the background on this one...just doing what I can. Committee is full of good people. In a perfect world I'd love to see it called simply alumni field or something sort of generic...but I also understand the world we're living in and if Mr. Sepentini grows his business as a result of this alignment, then more power to him.

Why else do people think he gives cars to the Booster Club to raffle? To be charitable for sure...but he's hoping for the goodwill and sales opportunities that come with it as well.

Wow one sly comment in July and we already have OQB on here giving more reps than he did when he was the OQB! Good times!!!

Got an update on our 7-on-7 performance yesterday in Massilon and I heard that it was not very impressive!

I went....wasn't impressed or horrified.

It was a 7-on-7 against a Division 1 team on a 95 degree day....can't glean a lot from that, IMO.

I think we've got some nice potential...it's going to be about who steps up and makes plays....and how we're able to run the ball. If we're not a 60% run offense this year, we will struggle. If we're not a team that lives on the intermediate passing game, we'll struggle.

The "air it out & pray" era needs to be over. Once and a while to stretch the defense, sure....but we can't rely on the homerun. Need to be efficient on offense and execute...and that worries me, because as a program, we've never really been a team that out-executes the opponent, we've always had the talent to overcome lack of execution.

Hopefully then our coaching staff can design an offense to utilize the talent we do have and not expose the weaknesses. I have said this before and i will say it again Coach Davault went 7-3 three straight years with a ton of talent and I have been hard on the guy because of it. If he takes this team to match that record he has my blessing. I can tell you this though, it wont happen running the same 5 plays we ran over and over last year. THe ball is in his court and we shall see if he picks that ball up and runs with it or if he drops it.

I've heard rumblings about some new looks on offense, and I only hope those are being done to play to our strengths.

There's no Monheim, Brenner or Turner this year....and I think thats a good thing in terms of less pressure on the kids, but the combined talent of those 3 can't be discounted. We simply have to be better, more creative and more efficient on offense.

Like always, we absolutely have to hit the ground running on August 24th over in Canal Fulton.

I also know after spending much time in Canal Fulton coaching baseball that they have a new defense this year. Not sure what but they had Mount Union come in for about a week and teach it to them. Also heard that NW will be a run first team this year and go away from the spread offense. Last thing on them is their O line and D line are huge.

Happy to see another year of Rider Football! With some serious talent leaving it will be fun to watch and see who steps up this year. I will have a hard time this year, I have a nephew that could be starting at linebacker for Wadsworth this year so my Friday nights are gonna be hard!

As a mid 90's grad change is just a part of the gig. What I mean is it would be cool to see the field have a name on it that means more than how much of a donation you make but that just isn't the world we live in. I would still love to go to Seifried's drug store and have a milk shake (out of the tin) but that aint gonna happen either. I have a list a mile long of things that have changed in my hometown since I left, but that's life. One thing I know is that the staff that coaches this team understands the tradition rich history that has put this program on the map. And that is all one can really ask for, I am a little dissapointed that "Lunatic Fringe" isn't the first song on the warm up tape anymore.... LOL, but heck, I'm getting old!

Go big red!!!

Good post sanitizer. I agree it is always fun to see who steps up each year. We lost a ton of talent after the '09 campaign as well. We start the season with a soph QB and end up losing in the State Semis. That scenario happens all the time here and it is because of that tradition and the fact that we expect to win every time we get on the field. Doesn't always happen but we expect it. there is a ton of talent on this team. We were very very green in some key spots up front last year and it showed. Skill wise we will surprise folks...as usual. Go Riders!

Berkey Excavating deserves a big applause! They have busted their butts to get this field prep completed for the gang from Maumee Bay. Just in the last couple of days, I drove by the field around 8:00 pm and Burkey's crew was still going at it. There were a couple of small bumps along the way, but Berkey made sure those small bumps did not interupt the process. Thank you Berkey Excavating!

With the recent bust of a multimillion dollar drug ring between students of two Ohio high schools, I'm not sure how funny this is.

About 30 yards got rolled out today before lunchtime...

This is real isn't it? Not some cruel dream that we're all going to wake up from?

More pics.

Red endzones.

Notice the black lines in this picture..I'm told those are the soccer lines. Black lines will blend better on a green field than yellow. Good look.
