I guess an interesting hire but from everything you hear they seem to really like him

Marlins sign Reyes, Hanley moves to 3rd, and they are said to be targeting Pujols again

On MLB Network tonight, they said that Hanley wants to stay at SS. F it, trade him for some pitching and throw everything at Pujols.

Buster Olney compared Heath Bell, Reyes and Pujols to Bosh, Wade and LeBron. He was spot-on except if Hanley stays, he would be the Wade of the Marlins. Pujols compares to LeBron in terms of superstardome only. Pujols knows how to get the job done and win a ring.

I don't know how they can afford to pay all three of those guys, hold onto Hanley, and 21 other guys around them who are good enough to win games. You need your whole roster over a 162 game season

Lol.

Darby- The Marlins have always had money just Loria never spent it. As a Marlins fan I'm happy he has finally stopped being a cheap ass piece of shit.

No way I trade him now. You wouldn't get fair market value because of his bad season. I play him at 3rd, hope he has a nice start to the season and then maybe consider dealing him down the road if he gets his numbers back

seeing some tweets that both St. Louis and Miami want Pujols to make a decision sooner rather than later. Some think something could happen by the end of the night

Also that there may be a mystery team that is offering a 10 year deal to Pujols.

My money is still on St. Louis though

10 years is still dumb IMO. See Rodriguez, Alex.

Doubtful. They aren't willing to give Prince Fielder any more than 5 (or maybe it is 6?) years.

Pirates just signed Nate McLouth to presumably be in their outfield mix.

The sound you might be hearing is me sobbing bitterly. McLouth, Clint Barmes, Rod Barajas...this team will have a team batting average of about .215 next year.

And the Pirates also have signed Eric Bedard. Which could go two ways. If healthy, this is good. Bedard averaged about a K per inning last year. On the other hand, he missed all of 2010 and part of last year, making "if healthy" have the potential to be a big joke I'll be laughing and laughing and laughing and laughing about all of next year.

Buerhle to Marlins 4yr/$58 mil. Sounds like they are out on Pujols.

I think they began to think Pujols was playing them. Buerhle's deal put the kibosh on Pujols.

Word is that they are now trying to deal Hanley Ramirez (Ramirez wanted more $$$ to move to 3rd) and they plan to use the cost savings from getting rid of Hanley to make a run at Prince Fielder.

As a Reds fan I hope the Marlins getting out of Pujols doesn't allow the Cards to give him less than 10yrs. If he gets the 10yr $220mil contract they will be screwed the back half of it. At least the Yankees can move ARod to DH.

I haven't seen anything on the local news yet about Pujols. I would assume that if he re-signs with the Redbirds it will be all over the locals.

I don't think Pujols was working the Marlins, though. I think the thought of playing for Guillen was appealing to Albert. I still think it all came down to the no-trade clause he wanted. Miami wouldn't go for it while STL was more than willing.

My personal opinion is that the Cards should pass. 10 years and 220 million is a lot for a 32-year old, no matter how good he has been. In five years those injuries he's been dealing with (especially with his feet) are going to require a lot more time away. The Cardinals have a pretty good lineup without Pujols and could still be a formidable force in the Central, especially with Wainwright coming back next season.
