I think LSU is probably the best team in the country and deserves to be ranked #1, that being said with their offensive liabilities (piss poor QBs) there would always be a good chance that teams like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford and Oregon (yes I know they already beat them) would have a chance to beat them because they can score a lot of points. I do not, do not, do not want to see LSU play Alabama again (I would refuse to watch it) that was in the top 3 of the most boring games I've ever tried to watch. So whoever they play in the NC game as long as it's not Alabama, I'm good with it.

With the rankings the way they are, it is very possible that LSU could drop a game and still play for the National Title, with the teams at three and four being teams they have already beaten and if OK State goes undefeated, that would take Oklahoma out of the picture, the only other possibility would be Arkansas, but then they would have to jump from #6 to #2 and I don't see that happening.

If LSU loses to Arkansas, Alabama goes to the SEC-CG. Arkansas would also likely pass LSU in the BCS standings, given such a recent win over them in Baton Rouge. If Alabama were to lose to Georgia, Arkansas, depending what happens elsewhere, would have an argument at playing for the title. It would come down to Oklahoma State/Oklahoma (winner) vs LSU/Arkansas/Oregon.

If you want chaos, like many of you do, root for Arkansas over LSU and Oklahoma over Oklahoma State.

I'm betting the darkhorse here, but I am thinking Houston gets picked over Stanford. Houston is an intriguing storyline as an undefeated and coulld bring ratings as people may want to see another Boise St.-Oklahoma type game. Plus, I don't think Stanford brings anymore fans than Houston, honestly.

Orange Bowl
Virginia Tech (12-1, 7-1, ACC Champion) vs. West Virginia (9-3, 5-2, Big East Champion)

Another half empty stadium in Miami. Sorry Orange Bowl.

Sugar Bowl
Stanford (11-1, 7-1, At Large) vs. Alabama (11-1, 7-1, At Large)

Could be an interesting match-up or could be 'Bama big.

This is how I see it. LSU will be the BCS #1, since the Sugar Bowl will be losing the SEC champ to the NCG, they get the first at large bid, they'll take Alabama since 'Bama will have a huge following and has conference ties. Oklahoma going to the NCG means the Fiesta Bowl gets the next at-large pick, they'll take Ok. St. to keep their conference tie-in. After that the selection goes Fiesta, Sugar, Orange for Jan. 2012 games. If I am reading this right, this is how I think it will be played out.

I think after OSU losing, it really makes things crystal clear. It's between 4 teams.

LSU
Alabama
Oregon
Arkansas

The Bedlam game is now meaningless. Even the winner of that game has an AWFUL loss. A worse loss than the other 1-loss teams.

Unless Alabama and Oregon drop another game people aren't expecting, the Big XII won't be playing in the BCSNCG.

I think LSU, with a loss, is still on the inside track to make the title game. Especially if that loss is Arkansas. If it's UGA, then you would possibly see the nature of the polls drop LSU behind Oregon and Alabama (which would be criminal, but still) given when their losses occurred.

I'd love to see Arkansas beat LSU, but I doubt that will happen.

This garbage is why we need a playoff.

I think if LSU finishes with one loss they're in no matter when that loss occurs, just because they've beaten the other two teams that would jump them.

I'm ecstatic that Okie St. lost though because now the system is chaotic, and the more chaos the louder the call for a playoff.

If Arkansas beats LSU, the highest BCS ranked team would go to the SEC title game. Would voters drop LSU below Alabama and/or move Arkansas above LSU?

I don't think Arkansas would move enough to jump both, but it is possible Alabama would move ahead of LSU into the title game, which if they won, they'd be in the National Championship.

Disagree. If LSU's loss is to Arkansas, Alabama would go to the SEC Title game (with a chance to pick up a high-quality win over UGA) and Arkansas would finish 11-1 with a win over LSU.

Lets say Alabama loses to Georgia, you then have Oregon, LSU and Arkansas, all with 1 loss. Who goes in that scenario? LSU/Arkansas?

What if Arkansas beats LSU? Alabama beat Arkansas by 24 points.

I don't think it will happen, Arkansas hasn't done anything that would make me think they can hang with LSU. Outside of Lattimore-less South Carolina their best wins are 6-4 Auburn and 5-5 Texas A&M, but that would just be another wrench.

Agreed. Arkansas can't beat LSU. Their offense is good, but it's nothing special compared to having to face LSU's D. Not in Baton Rouge. Look at the tape of quarters 2-4 against Bama. One of the few times the Arkansas offense has looked lost. So, while it's not official yet, I'd say of all the crazy scenarios out there, the least likely one would be Arkansas beating LSU IMO. I think USC has a better shot at beating Oregon and Georgia has a better shot at beating the SEC West representative in the SEC-CG.

I think you are seeing phase one with the BCS no longer going to be involved with the crown jewel bowl games. Somebody is in their (BCS) ear. Odd that they would throw themselves on the sword and back away from those games. Something, somebody, or some people is driving that.

A playoff will happen and it's years like this that prove that one is needed. There is no way anybody can make sense of all this. How do you decide who plays in that game? Millions are at stake and you want those left up to a couple of computers and coaches who watch a handful of games each week? haha ok

Yeah, I know they are discussing a lot of different options. I think the +1 model would create more of a mess than they have already. And you'd be more likely to see two teams from the same conference in the title game than now.
