If Stanford loses to Oregon, Oklahoma beats OSU, and Bama and LSU win out..........who goes to the title game vs LSU?
Looks like Bama since they are #3 in the BCS. Or would it be OK or ORE?
Boise has no shot.

How if Arkansas beats LSU and ARK wins the SEC title game? And the above options happen or some of the above dont happen? Will Arkansas go to title game and possibly against Bama?

BCS might cause havoc this year.

LSU had 2 losses when they won it a couple years ago. Wisconsin is playing in a deeper and tougher conference than the SEC this year. Outside of Bama and LSU, the SEC is lacking in talented teams.

Houston is ranked higher than any team from the tough Big 10.

3 teams in the top 10 (4 as of last night but someone had to lose) is a conference lacking in talented teams. :rolleyes:

Look at the top 8 right now as it stands. If the season ended today and the BCS didn't exist Saturday we would be seeing LSU vs Arkansas, OK ST vs Oregon, Alabama vs Oklahoma, and Stanford vs Boise in the first round of a ridiculously fun to watch tournament. Can anyone say with a straight face they would rather see Alabama play LSU again rather than that? If they stay in the SEC this year (which is what they made a pretty clear objective by dropping Alabama an entire ONE spot) for the national title I won't watch it.

An Oklahoma win over Ok St would probably be enough for the Sooners to ultimately jump Alabama if both win out otherwise and there becomes a need for a 1-loss team to get in.

I still think Stanford has a chance to jump Ok St if both remain undefeated, but this week will be the tell. Stanford improved itself already in the human polls (extending its lead in one over Ok St and creeping closer in the other). They are way behind in the computers, but have the potential to make serious strides there and here's why:
  • Oklahoma State has been maxed out in the computers. Even if they beat Oklahoma, they aren't going to be any higher than #1, where they've been the last few weeks. They can't get any more points, but if LSU jumps them (which will happen if LSU wins out - they are already tied this week), Ok St is losing ground.
  • An Ok St win over Oklahoma helps Stanford more than it helps Ok State because Stanford is still behind Oklahoma in the computers right now.
  • Stanford should also pass Boise State and Arkansas (with a loss to LSU) and could possibly pass Alabama by the end.
  • Ok State will not get the benefit of a conference championship game boost - Stanford will.
I believe a significant migration to Stanford in the human polls could happen if Stanford is impressive against Oregon. The two big things they have going for them as it relates to human interest is the perception of better defense and the marquee player in the country. If Stanford doesn't make its move in the human polls this week, all this goes out the window. If voters changes their thinking this week and Stanford passes Ok State in the Harris Poll, I don't think the computers will be enough save Ok State after the PAC title game.

I'm hoping for the typical annual LSU choke job so they drop at least one game. I'm also going to be rooting for whoever plays in the opposite half of the SEC from Alabama/LSU so we can get them clear out of the national title game. Then we can watch Stanford play Oklahoma St in the title game.

I'm actually rooting for the rematch. It would absolutely ruin the current system because the entire country would be pissed.

I'm sorry but the big 10 is just not that good this year. Ohio State is one of the better teams and they lost to Miami of all teams. Miami is straight up garbage. And Nebraska loses to NW? ouch. I told everyone that Russell Wilson was good for some losses, as I have seen him play for the last 3 years many times. He was overhyped by beating bad bad teams.

When Northwestern beats a top Big Ten team, it means the Big Ten stinks. When Ole Miss or Vandy upset a top SEC team, it means that the SEC is deep. :confused:

The way I figure, Oklahoma will beat the fuck out of Oklahoma State, Stanford will win out because they won't have played a single decent team outside of Oregon, and the computers will give Alabama the edge over Stanford in the end because enough voters will be mesmerized by an all SEC title game. The last at large big will come down teams like a 2 loss Oregon who doesn't travel, a 2 loss Clemson that no one cares about, or a second Big Ten team like a 2 loss Wisconsin or 2 loss Nebraska, who would always get the choice for money reasons. I think Wisconsin has a better chance of winning out than Nebraska does, so they are in. The Orange Bowl may be the lowest rated BCS bowl in history.

LSU (13-0, 8-0, SEC Champion) vs. Alabama (11-1, 7-1, At Large)

Rose Bowl
Michigan State (11-2, 7-1, Big Ten Champion) vs. Stanford (13-0, 8-0, Pac-12 Champion)

Where would that put Penn State? Wouldn't they either have to be in the Rose Bowl or Michigan State/Wisconsin would have to have one more loss after playing each other in the B1G title game?

The SEC has pretty much 2 legit teams and a bunch of mediocrity. I am no SEC fan for sure. This year has a bunch of really good teams and a lot of mediocrity, but no real elite teams. I think a playoff would be amazing this year.

That is an easy line, but you are leaving out some context. Northwestern lost to Army this year. So yes, when they beat a B1G division favorite it makes the conference look bad. Purdue beat OSU a few years ago after already losing to a MAC team. Sorry, that is never going to look good for your conference. Upsets happen, but the worse the team that pulls it, the worse it is for the leader.

I don't recall Vandy recently pulling a major upset in the SEC, but most of the ones people are going to point to in this discussion did not include losses to losing teams who otherwise had such terrible losses, themselves.
