Just another irrational response to help ease the pain. I didn't read through all the posts, but someone mentioned recruiting as a factor in why a coach would leave for a new job before the bowl. I don't know if anyone mentioned that from the original school's side, too.

If Kelly stayed mum about the job until after the bowl game, that means he is further "lying" to everyone including the recruits he'd spend time talking with for the next month. People are mad he's leaving, mad that he didn't tell them, but now you want him to stay and coach the bowl. Is that really best for your players and your program?

At this point, Cincy can get busy finding a replacement, which gives them an advantage in doing so over schools who may have yet to release their coaches. Why wait until after bowls when the best candidates could already be locked up?

Nice rocket31! Just another greater than thou ND fan talking down to players on other teams because they aren't Notre Dame. You are really kidding yourself if you think this wasn't a done deal when he told them on tuesday that he was going to talk with them. I wouldn't doubt if they hadn't actually contacted him before the Pitt game.

I don't necessarily think of this as a gutless move, more of a spineless move on Kelly's part. He's moving from building a decent BCS program to a program that is going nowhere, only because of the money. Have fun swimming in your millions knowing that you have turned your back on not one, but two programs in your pursuit of the American Dream.

personally I think the players should tell the interim guy to take a hike too. He coached CMU when Kelly went to Cincy and then just left anyway. Tell em to leave and we'll coach ourselves up with a staff full of GAs

Honestly, I think he did the right thing by waiting till after the banquet, it's for the players and staff, why ruin it by focussing the entire evening on yourself rather than the attention where it belongs, on everyone else.

Like I said you can't please everyone given the situation.

I'm sure he will have to fulfill that contract. There was a clause saying if he wasn't the head coach at UC January 2010, he would have to pay the university $1,000,000. This was in the contract UC agreed to so as long as Kelly pays the money, they have no reason to complain.

Oh come on....you can't actually use the entire contract as the terms of said contract. You can only focus on the parts that seem to rationalize your bitching and moaning.

Yeah...sorry I brought that clause up. We should never let facts get in the way of our discussions on here.

I don't blame them for being pissed, but that is the business of college football.
