They certainly have been one of the best indie bands for the past six years, and have only gotten better. Let me rephrase, "they will go down as one of the best indie bands ever."I Wear Pants;952828 wrote:They are respected but they are not at all "one of the biggest Indie bands in history".
Aligator, Boxer, and High Violet were all incredible albums. Their EP Cherry Tree is great and their work with Dark Was The Night and Portal 2 was fantastic too.

Boston anyone????
Tom Scholz is from Toledo (Ottawa Hills), Ohio. My mom actually went to a bunch of parties at his house in HS, though Tom had graduated. "More Than a Feeling" was written by him, and MaryAnn still lives in Toledo. She dated a co-workers father when Tom was in love with her lol.

Neither Trent Reznor nor Joe Walsh were born in Ohio. Not sure that we can claim either.

Don't matter if you're born there, looking at Ohio connections, like Joe Walsh lived in Columbus and played alot at Kent State and around Cleveland with The James Gang.

Rick Derringer was born in Ft. Recovery. When he was seventeen years old, his band The McCoys recorded "Hang on Sloopy" in the summer of 1965, which became the number one song in America before "Yesterday" by The Beatles knocked it out of the top spot.

Then I highly recommend you check out the albums I listed. They're immensely talented (the guitarist holds a master's in classical guitar from freakin' Yale) and their sound is very diverse. I think they have some of the best lyrics of any band I've ever listened too.Steel Valley Football;952861 wrote:I've heard only one song by The National. I liked it, irrc.
If you're into alternative rock you'd like songs like "Bloodbuzz Ohio," "Mr. November," "Lit Up," etc. But most of it sounds like Johnny Cash singing Coldplay's first two albums in my opinion.
My two favorite songs of theirs at the moment, I fairly certain Sufjan Stevens is also in "So Far Around The Bend." Not sure if you know who that is or not, but he's kinda a big deal haha...

While not one of my favorite bands, but figured I throw them into the mix long as we're basically just naming bands from Ohio. I have always liked The Greenhornes, a rock band from Cincinnati.
