What about Rico McCoy and Ben Martin? Honest question. Seemed like quite a few were shocked by them going elsewhere.

Excellent point. Can't remember entirely, but I'm sure he was wrong about them as well. Although, to be fair, many were with those two.killer_ewok;1075650 wrote:What about Rico McCoy and Ben Martin? Honest question. Seemed like quite a few were shocked by them going elsewhere.

Just read that Nevada stated that Gronkowski of the Patriots had verbally committed to Ohio State and loved everything but pulled commitment when realized how little we used the TE, one of Nevadas big misses on predicting commitments.

Agreed. They both were pretty big surprises. Most thought Martin was down to ND and OSU and then he chose Tennessee.

Well I think we might of found our answer regarding Neal
http://www.the-ozone.net/football/2012/meyercaptivatesatclinic.htmlMeyer continued: “Is he a kid who takes the extra step? Right at the end, we refused to take a kid from out of state. He was a wide receiver. His extra step was out of bounds. I’ve been blessed to coach some guys whose extra step was to drop their shoulder and get that extra two yards right through a guy.

Nobody knows with him. Maryland pulled out all the stops last weekend and he is expected to announce this friday. IMO his head tells him OSU might be his best fit but his heart is in Florida. You also can't count out Maryland because the last person to get him on campus always has a great shot. Non of those three would surprise me.

Would love nothing more than for OSU to strike out with Diggs. That would be hilarious.Scarlet_Buckeye;1077238 wrote:Not sure when the deadline is, but he's supposed to announce Feb 10th.

Another TE on the Patriot's roster with 79 catches this year is Aaron Hernandez who played TE for Meyer at Florida.imex99;1075843 wrote:Just read that Nevada stated that Gronkowski of the Patriots had verbally committed to Ohio State and loved everything but pulled commitment when realized how little we used the TE, one of Nevadas big misses on predicting commitments.

Interesting bit on Diamond's recruitment and choice of Auburn. FYI, Third Wiseman are some former OSU players with inside connections/knowledge.

Inside the recruitment of Jordan Diamond
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
it all began innocently enough, with a phone call from the Third Wiseman a couple of days before Diamond's official visit.
"I just met G-Bone" he said. (Now you have to understand, that just hearing the Third Wiseman say the words "G-Bone" was comedy gold in and of itself)
"Who is G-Bone?", I asked.
"G-Bone is Diamond's "guy"---and he is here a couple days in advance to look around and check things out in Columbus".
Sounded good to me, as I know a lot of people have a preconceived notion about Columbus, and being "Columbus proud" this seemed like a good thing. "Let me know how he likes it" I told the Third Wiseman---who assured me that he would .
Fast forward to the weekend--and it was a big one for the Buckeyes---Dunn, Pittman, Dodson, Diamond etc etc etc a veritable all star cast of high school talent---and there was Jordan right in the middle telling anyone and everyone of his intention to be a Buckeye. Lots of people were hearing this---and buying what he was selling. But I was still curious about G-Bone---and wanted to know more about his thoughts about Columbus---so I lobbed a call into the Third Wiseman.
He didn't call me back until Monday but when he did his words were "forget about Diamond". I was like "whattttttt?" And the Third Wiseman said "he will end up at Auburn--mark it down".
Now at this point in time "Auburn" was on the radar, but a longshot at best. "Auburn---100%" he repeated.
I was stunned---and even more stunned when he said "I wouldn't be surprised if OSU stops recruiting this kid---and soon---watch Nevada"
By this time I was trying to think of questions so I went with "what about Michigan???".....
The Third Wiseman said "nope---I know you hate them, but they don't pay for guys or give moms jobs"
I was now really surprised. So all I could muster was "what about G-Bone?"
"We have to let the G-Bones of the world do their thing---but it can't be at Ohio State"--said the Wiseman----"G-Bone will take this program down"
"so G-Bone was a bad guy", I asked....
"yes, G-Bone was a bad guy", said the Wiseman---"but G-Bone will love Auburn, its perfect for him--remember I said that"

If that is indeed true, the folks at Auburn are either stupid or arrogant. You know that they have to be under the microscope after the Newton stuff.

So is Diggs going to have a "press conference" ala Terrelle Pryor?
I'm kinda late to the party with this kid. I've always seen his name pop up on the recruit rankings, but never saw his highlights or thought we have much of a chance of landing him. Lately I've been all over his highlights and damn is he is fun to watch.
