Seriously, Sheridan will play hard but they are not close to as good as last year. I think Dover will be able to pass at will. Sheridan will score some, but not nearly enough. CERTAINLY hope I am wrong.

Dover wins unless Swinderman throws 3 or more INT's. He has done that more than once this year.

Dover's offensive line can't protect their quarterback. Watch the film and see how many times he got hit this year. Also, how many passes have been dropped this year, or tipped for interceptions? They don't have the receiving core they had last year.

If Swinderman plays like he did last week...Dover is done.

If the offensive line plays like it did last week and all year, Dover is done.

The line isn't throwing into double coverage all game. It's time for the senior to step up like he did against Steubenville

when you get to the qb rushing 3 guys it is kind of hard not to have double coverage

remember last year against steubenville swindeman had a great offensive line and a lot better receiving core so it wasn't all him

I'll say Sheridan by a touchdown or less

Would like to see the offense keep Schneeberger in the backfield even if its just as an extra blocker. Teams know he has the ability to run, so they would have to pay attention to him or he could burn them on a draw.

Looks good except Dover. It really depends which team shows up. Dover just has not beat a good teams by that much.

I have a legitimate question...and not trying to stir anything up, but honestly interested in learning something. I understand and cracked up at Crimson/Gray's universal truths on holding because it is so real. But here's my question...Tri Valley played Dover twice and was vocal about the holds. Sheridan last year felt they were held more than other games, Zanesville this year...even the TV announcers were questioning what appeared to be holds. What does Dover do so much different at the line that makes opponents/fans question this rule more than any other games? Is it a technique used? I never really hear the hold discussion as severe as I do when Dover is involved. There must be something Dover (perhaps others out there too, I just have not seen other teams from that area very much) does different than teams from this area. Do other teams that Dover plays get as worked up over perceived "non-calls"?

Earlier I noted this as a bad matchup for Sheridan. I was not trying to play head games...I do think the strength of Dover plays into the weakness of Sheridan. Plus being at home can only help Dover feel better. But as you know, any given night...things can happen. The one thing I will say, I think Sheridan players may be more comfortable on the road when its a "us against the world" scenario. As for the crowds, the folks that make the trip are the ones who really want to be there. In my opinion, alot of the home crowd are there for the "social" aspect of the game and have taken the winning tradition for granted. Half the time during the home games, i'm not sure they are even awake...

Some of the holding conversation here began on the MVL forum.

Back when John Glenn was going to the playoffs during about a 3 year stretch, there were a lot of MVL teams that felt JG held almost every running play out of the wing-T. The lineman grabbed you by the jersey, held on tight and would not let go. No chance of the d line running down a play. The talent level went down and you do not hear about it anymore.

Some New Lex posters used to have a problem with the fact that Tri-Valley o line would cut block out of the shot gun. I asked a TV coach about it and he said you can cut block when the ball is close to the line of scrimmage, so if the linemen cut block immediately at the snap the ball is still close to the line or scrimmage as the ball moves through the air to the QB. Occasionally you would get a set of officials that would flag it, so the coach would just stop running that play that game.

The holding you hear discussed on the other forums are when the d lineman has beat the tackle to the outside, has a step on the tackle and ends up on the ground before they get to the QB. Apparently like the JG and TV situations I mentioned above, there are guys in strips who think it is OK.

As for this game, I really think those picking Sheridan are thinking of the Sheridan of old. TV picked Sheridan apart with the pass like no other TV team has done to Sheridan before (2007 was similar but not as bad). New Lex had wide open receivers but could not complete the passes (fault was sometimes the QB and sometimes the WR). Unless Dover is absolutely out of sync, Sheridan has no answer for SHOCK and AWE. I do think the Sheridan ground game will break through for 2 or 3 TVs. Not nearly enough.

Hoping for an injury free game and good luck to both in week 11.

Dover holding question:

Dover passes 95% of the time. 2nd and short? Pass. 3rd and inches? Pass. Because of this, Dover's o-line practices pass blocking all summer and all season long, and has since they introduced the spread offense years ago.

So its either:

A) Dover's line is well trained pass blockers
B) Dover has a malicious, secret holding technique that the Dover coach somehow convinces the officials to overlook prior to the game, every game
C) Vegetable oil on the Dover jersies makes the defense miss
D) Magnets

I'm voting for A, although remind me to suggest C&D to Coach Ifft.
