I think a lot of the backlash that came from the treatment of many fans. A lot of the stories got to some of the higher-ups in the program and were reported heavily by the media. I'm not going to say that stuff is legit though. It happens everywhere.

However, IU did ultimately cancel the series. Not UK. Both just wanted it under different terms.

What was wrong with home-neutral-away-neutral 4 game set? I still dont understand how you cant work this out. I mean, I do...but its just dumb (as Az stated).

And it does look bad as the series went to Home and Home and UK lost 2 of 3 (when IU was down) and then they want it back to neutral, even though IU eventually cancelled. Oh well, I hope that KU talks heat back up. I know that talk has fizzled about that game, but I hope it picks back up with this cancellation.

Not that we are privy to the exact negotiations, but it's pretty clear that both sides were not really willing to compromise. It was either their terms or forget it. It stinks because the bottom line is a great series is no more, and neither side was able to consider that over their own desires.

Unfortunately, looks like the IU/KU talk is dead...for now
Here’s what we also know: The long-rumored home-and-home series with Indiana appears to be dead, according to KU’s Larry Keating, special assistant to the athletic director. Keating is the point man in charge of piecing together KU’s schedule, and he told The Star on Wednesday that the potential series was no more. It appears Indiana was hesitant to schedule another major (road) game. The Hoosiers have reportedly been haggling with Kentucky over the renewal of that series — do they play on or off campus? — but Indiana also has a loaded schedule (It features Butler, the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, and a four-team tourney at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn that includes UCLA and Georgetown).

Rumors out there that UCLA will come to Rupp Arena next year as part of a 2-game series with UK.

Shabazz at Rupp? It would be epic...

Sounds like IU and Louisville are discussing starting up a series, and IU has also contacted KU abotu resuming talks. I think IU will land one of them.

Since UC plays Georgetown on an annual basis in the Big East I can say this with conviction: Patrick Ewing, Mutumbo and Alonzo Mourning are not walking through that door. JTIII is half the coach his father was.

For the past five years or so, Georgetown might be one of the most overrated teams in all of college basketball.

Five years is probably accurate. G'town is a local DC program (not that there isn't talent there). Their days of national recruiting have waned. Iverson, Othella Harrington, and others aren't lining up. Not sure if they are the most overrated, but definitely the most over seeded.

I'd probably generally agree w/ G'town being overrated...but this year, they were not expected to do ANYTHING. And they had a great year. They were underrated coming into the season.

LOL @ Kansas @ #4 right, cbf?

The Orange at #6? The more I read about Coleman...I think Syracuse will have a better 2012-13 than I thought after the end of last season.

In a related note, more crazy info comes out in the Bernie Fine case. Mike Lang, who claimed Fine touched him "20, 30,
40 times" now says that "nothing really happened to him" as Bernie only tried to touch him once, he pushed his hand away and that was the end of it. Lang also revealed that he asked Fine to make his (Lang's) sons ball boys for the Orange. Yet he still says that his step-brother, Bobby Davis, was molested by Fine for several years. WTF?!?

Lang also stated that he was "kind of glad" that Boeheim won the defamation lawsuit because "he was just sticking up for Bernie."

All I'm thinking is thank goodness Syracuse didn't "knee-jerk" and fire Boeheim.

Smart move.

Sounds like the Ohio State men and women will open the season at the Carrier Classic in Charleston, SC. Pretty awesome.

Unfortunately, UK won't be playing Georgetown. Kind of upsetting. Rumors are that Kentucky will be playing the SEC/B.E. Challenge at the Joyce Center against Notre Dame. Pretty weak, IMO.

WTF? Are they playing anyone this year? No IU or UNC and now no GT.

It's going to be a mess, for this year IMO. UNC returns to the schedule in 2013. However, the SEC also hasn't figured out how to do the basketball rotation yet. Rumors are right now that Kentucky and Tennessee will only play once. IMO, this is terrible...but if they are going unbalanced (assuming, until they get to 16 teams), that's just how it might be.

Thus far, all that is confirmed is...

at Louisville
vs Morehead State
Duke in Atlanta
Maryland in Brooklyn
at SEC/Big East Challenge (Notre Dame, Georgetown or Cincinnati (although G-Town is a long shot))

Although not official, it sounds like Baylor might be coming to Rupp in December. Kentucky men's and women's team will play at Baylor at Cowboys' stadium in 2013-2014. Both teams hosting Baylor this year, which would be pretty big as Baylor will be preseason top 10 in men's and the dominating favorite in women's.

Agreed. A team that didn't make the Final Four can't be in the discussion.

2007 Ohio State, 2008 Kansas, 2008 Memphis and 2001 Arizona would be on there before them...
