I'd imagine resident Minnesota fan GoRocks agrees with this. Since he built them into the same 19-14 caliber team they were before he arrived.

I think even Minny could justify hiring Tubby 5 years ago. But ANYONE hiring him now?

I mean the guy has 7 straight years of downward trending performances and irrelevancy to back that up. He once was an elite coach, but not now.

Unfortunately, he no longer, I believe, has the desire to do the work it takes to compete with the elite. I mean are John Calipari or Billy Donovan (in the SEC) or Thad Matta or Tom Izzo (in the B1G) scared of Tubby taking a recruit from them? At a place like LSU, he will be expected to compete more than they currently were (LSU went to a Final Four in 2006 and won the SEC overall in 2009) and I just can't fathom him doing so.

Hiring Tubby would be settling for average. I'd rather take a shot in the dark with someone like Steve Prohm (current coach of Murray State) and run with it...

I wouldn't hire him, but it'd be a lot easier to win in a much weaker sec then it is in the big ten.

It would also be a lot easier to recruit kids to LSU than to Minnesota.

Well, he doesn't have to worry about it now. LSU hired Johnny Jones from North Texas.

Wow, really? Andy Katz..the knowall guru of college basketball!! I actually like Katz. And ya, I "lol" at him as well. But I am sure he justifies ur top 5. As long as someone agrees with you, they rock! If not...then they get manipulated quotes put in ur signature. Comical.

Larry Brown takes over as SMU head coach.

Hires assistants Rod Strickland (basketball operations at Kentucky), Jerrance Howard (assistant under Weber at Illinois) and Tim Jankovich (currently coach at Illinois State, would be successor for Brown at SMU).

I mean is this a freaking home run for SMU? Incredible staff.

Couple of things...

Looks like Pat Summitt is stepping down. Sad, sad day in college basketball.

Also, the rule of allowing a school to prohibit where a kid can transfer needs to be done away with yesterday. This is fucking a joke. Kid is leaving Wisky and Bo Ryan says he can't transfer to ANY B1G or ACC school as well as Iowa St. and Marquette. That is 25 schools he can't look at.

I get it, you don't want one of your former kids going to a rival school. But seriously, 25 schools? GFY Bo.

Danny Manning hasn't even been on the job a month and has done the same thing down at Tulsa, albeit the list was only 3(I think?) schools.

This rule needs to be done away with right now.

Audio of Bo Ryan on Mike and Mike: http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=7831934

It's like Wisconsin's coaches just try to be the most hated coaches in the country. Bo is such an ass and deserves every bit of the criticism he's getting.

The whole twitter backlash has resulted in Wisconsin lifting the restrictions to just in-conference schools, which is what most other coaches do.

Bo sounded like a buffoon this AM. It was a train wreck of an interview. I dont think he finished a though. He started to make a defensive point, and would end up on a tangent and a different point. It was just awful.

Hey Dukies, what's up with Andre Dawkins? Been reading a lot of rumors, but obviously not sure what to believe at this point. Is he leaving the program?

A tweet from a basketball writer says that years ago Bo Ryan accepted a transfer from another Big 10 school. Anyone know who it was? I can't recall.

Looks like CJ Leslie is staying at State officially.

Also, late yesterday rumors started swirling about Duke's Andre Dawkins. It was first said he was kicked off the team, but the university stated in a release last night that he hasn't been kicked off, but there is a possibility of him redshirting this year. Decision to be made in the fall.

Sounds alot like the route Cutcliffe took with a few football players who had broken unspecified team rules.

Dawkins' father came out and said Andre has been battling depression and grief over the death of his sister a couple years back. She died driving up to see him play in the Garden

George Mason and Virginia Commonwealth joining the Atlantic 10, official on May 1st. Butler likely to join them.

This makes the A-10 by far the strongest mid-major conference. Will be a fantastic basketball league with those additions.

A-10 will become an anual 4 bid league, imo, with those editions. Obviously, assuming all members, current and future, keep up their history of past success.

As coach? Last I checked, Lyons was a player, Mack is the coach.

That's a huge loss. Lyons was probably preseason A-10 POY...

I know a lot of X fans and I don't think anyone wanted him back, most expected him to leave.

Rumblings that he's going to Arizona with Sean Miller...

I wonder if there was any "illegal contact" there. I'm sure if Xavier wanted to pursue a technicality, they could. No doubt they had conversations prior to Lyons being officially released...if he's even been released yet.

So the coach is out or Mark Lyons the player is out?

Lyons, the player, is not returning.
