the bulldog center is jr clay bowe 6'4 and pf is sr seth troyer 6' (but pretty stout and has a good skill set). Clay held his own against a good big man in steve klotzle last night for smithville. I feel the dalton starters can hang with most teams, but their depth is young and untested - the bobcats have a definite advantage there. Actually, their starters are pretty green as well with only troyer and moyer having any varsity experience. Moyer can be a handful for teams as he loves that 10-15 foot pull up jump shot and can hit it guarded or not. I would have to think that the norwayne size, depth, and athleticism will be a little too much for the bulldogs to handle.

Congrats to the Cats for getting their first win last night. We will have our hands full today with West Holmes. I would have liked to have our football players in a little better bball shape for this one. The student fans were really funny last night. I love that.

Kaleb Harris is definitely a varsity level player Havin Fun. He just needs some time. That was his first varsity game last night.

The full time bballers looked great last night. Fry provided that spark we needed off the bench and played amazingly. Maxwell and Davis did exactly what I think they are capable of doing all year. They were very good once they got rolling.

To my buddy in the back row, try the real shower next time!! Ha Ha

Agreed 1486, with Moyer back we look a lot better, he makes everybody else better as well, and yes our bench is unproven but hoping a few will step up this year as we move forward.

Bears student section 3-0! lol

The 40 year old Norwayne dad trying to lead the student section had to of embarassed his child last night! SMH....(im thinking it may have been Paul)

Norwayne looked good! You could tell they arent in shape yet, but the athleticism carried them. Looked more like park ball. Once they get organized and set-up plays, they are going to be a force. They very well could run the tables in WCAL....

Bears...Just keep working hard. Saw some good things last night, Hawkins missing definately hurt as well!

EDIT: I do have to say, I was impressed with Norwaynes defense....30 point lead and running a full court press! LOL

I didnt get to go watch the Cats yesterday but I heard it was much the same as Friday night. The football players looked rough and the rest of the guys carried the load. I hear Nate Davis tore it up. I'm glad to here that because this is probably going to be one of his toughest tests. WH is big and physical and it sounds like he rose to the occasion. Way to go Nate. I cant wait to see this team when they start hitting on all cylinders.

norwayne 62, dalton 51. Pretty entertaining game tonight. Norwayne is fast, physical and deep. Maxwell is the the guy that makes them go and davis is a handful. Bulldogs hung tough all game and gave a very gritty performance - they are going to surprise some people this year - they have good inside-outside play and play good defense but their weakness is depth as they only play 6. New cats gym is very nice, but I think I could sue the school for taking off 10 years of my hearing with the music - sheesh was that loud. The golden bears come to town Friday.

Rittman 75
Mapleton 65

it was only mapleton but rittman did not look to bad. Dennis and Walls had big games with the supporting cast contributing very well.

I was also a little surprised at the lack of a crowd for Norwayne - with the energy from the football season, new gym, and talented hoops team, I figured they'd fill the place up, but it wasn't close.

It seemed pretty full and very loud to me. The game wasn't on the schedule, so many probably didn't know about it. The gym isn't new this year - they played there last year.

I was impressed with a few of the Dalton players - Moyer's ability to pull up at full speed is impressive. Norwayne looked bigger and faster, but Dalton rebounded pretty well and broke the press for some easy baskets. The Troyer kid was great around the basket despite giving up a few inches. Maxwell and Harris looked incredibly fast for Norwayne. I think the Norwayne JV won by a similar score.

sorry - forgot they opened the gym last year. Dalton has out-rebounded every team they played this year and I think they outrebounded the cats by 10 or 15 last night - definitely one of their strong points. Moyer is really good at the pull up j's. He really needed to be more aggressive with that in the first half as it's very hard to defend. Norwayne is really talented and should have a very good year.

Norwayne looks to be the team to beat right now but very impressed with Dalton, with the talent that was lost they seem to still be a very solid team. should be a fun WCL race this year.

Dalton came out and dominated the first (37-12 at half). Bears had a nice showing in the second half. The final was 64-52 Dalton. What's scary is Moyer did not score until the second half and only scored 4.

Rittman and Smithville turned out to be a far better game than I expected. I'm pretty sure the final was 67-64 Smithville. Rittman was hitting threes all night and kept pace with the Smithies. Klotzle and Bates have to be one of, if not the best, guard/big man combos in the WCAL. End of the game was back and forth with some questionable officiating on both sides. Rittman tried to foul with 7 seconds left as the official near the play started to walk away. Smithville is a very solid team but it looks like if you run a 2-3 zone you can almost eliminate Klotzle's scoring. All in all it was a great game. Any other scores from around the league?

Heard there were some sparks in the Norwayne-Northwestern game tonight? Anybody see what happened with the Northwestern player who got injured?

Yes there was but it had nothing to do with the kids. The refs had no control of this game from the opening tip till the end. It was just plain ugly. From my understanding from a friend of mine from NW, the kid was in and out of consciousness the entire ride to the hospital. He has stitches and a concussion. There were players from both sides that got hurt in this game. Hard to evaluate Norwayne in this one. It was a very sloppy played game. Brice Maxwell is very strong for Norwayne. I hope for a fast recovery for the kid (brandon i think) from NW.

Very impressed with Rittman tonight and Smithville showed resiliency at the end.
