The athleticism on this team is being wasted. They are definitely athletic!! That's where the coaching comes in. I personally dont believe the coach knows how to coach these kids. I haven't really seen him change anything in the games that I've been to. It doesn't seem like he makes adjustments. He keeps doing the same thing hoping for different results. What's with forcing the ball down in the right corner?....I don't get it. Am I missing something? Where are the screens up top for the guards? Why do they insist on forcing passes down low? I'm not a basketball genius but sometimes watching them is very difficult. The kids look scared to death. They make a mistake and West loses his mind......well at least on some of them. He has 2 or 3 kids I think he uses too much. How many lay ups can you miss before you need to take a break? How many times can you come off the bench and loft 3's everytime you touch the ball and miss and continue to play heavy minutes? Does he have a beef with some of these kids. What kind of guy is he? It seems to me that he is in constant melt down and the kids know it. I dont know any of the coaches and I'm not real close to the program but I've seen the same problems for the past several years. It might be time to change up the offense a little and lighten up. Kids feed off of coaches and Norwaynes kids do not look comfortable.
Well, I'm probably no closer to the program than you are - I know a few bobcats are closer and maybe they could answer you more specifically. I'm not ready to blame the coach. Norwayne won some big games early in the year (Loudonville-away, West holmes-neutral and Orrville-home) and dominated their early conference games. The Dalton home game wasn't really close - and it turns out that Dalton is really good. Part of that may be that other teams have adjusted to Norwayne. They are athletically more gifted and usuallay bigger than most teams they have faced. Orrville was right there with them. But they don't have a lot of "basketball players." I think the one boy that you might be complaining about made huge 3-pointers that were the difference in some of the early games - he's the best shooter on the team. I really think they should have won a road game against Dalton or Hillsdale - losing one of those games wasn't the end of the world. But again, give Dalton credit because they won some big games. Let's see how the cats finish their year.
