I was thinking a few things, he is hoping to find a cure, they are family or due to his religious beleifs he does not believe in killing them.

Or Herschel feeds the zombies with outsiders. He keeps saying "They won't be here forever"

Unlikely, but would be an even bigger twist.

That was my thought, they were keeping them hoping there would be a cure or something

I want to know how he got them in there.....

WHen you think about it, they would almost have to be people that had just gotten bit and "died' then put in the barn to wake up a zombie....right?

You could always capture them right? Then bring them in from the top (where they were looking at them from). Or probably even just bait them to the doors, open and push them in. Risk the others getting out, but Im sure they have a way to keep them away from the doors (feed them when the put a new one in).

Personally I think he uses them to make vittles

The barn walkers are family IMO. I wish they would find the damn little girl already. I am tired of Herschel, he is starting to get on my nerves.

13 total episodes this season, and AMC already picked up season 3

Ratings remain very high for The Walking Dead, as it's only trailed MNF in weekly ratings since it's premiere.

We will see for season 3 though. I know a bunch of people, myself included, who think this season blows so far but are pot committed thus far. I won't tune into season 3 unless the end of this season picks up.

I knew Shane was going to be in Andrea's pants next, it was just a matter of time. I am surprised it took this long.

I'm starting to think the entire season is going to be on this farm. Pretty lame. I guess the writers must not know how to adapt the pace of the books to tv.

I love this show and I will continue to watch but it needs to pick up. The Sophia storyline needs to go away, I'm starting to get really annoyed with some of the characters as well
