Also, the previews for the second half of the season look a lot more action packed. Can't wait until February.

Yep^. Looks like shit is really going to hit the fan.
Rick stepping up to kill Sophia was a nice touch.

AMC shows have really wowed me lately. First with Gus in Breaking Bad and now the little girl in Walking Dead.

Boom. Just trust the writers, people.dwccrew;981980 wrote:I may be in the minority, but I am enjoying this season. I will trust the writers and producers and just go along for the ride. I think they will have the show pick up and have more action. I am enjoying the storylines though.
I was sitting with my girlfriend watching this episode and I said watch that little girl come out of the barn with all the walkers. Kind of predictable, but awesome nonetheless.

The whole scene with Shane at the end was incredible. I had a feeling that Sophia was in the barn the whole time, but damn was the ending powerful.

Small spoiler for the next episode in Feb.
[sp]20-seconds of footage. Herschel claims he didn't know that Sophia was in the barn. Herschel says Otis took care of that (like I said may have been the case in the last thread) Shane doesn't believe him and Rick tries to calm everyone down. Maggie slaps Shane and Herschel demands ONLY Shane to get off the farm).[/sp]

I was just watching the "Talking Dead" show that's like the aftershow with producers or whatever and they said that the zombie that had it's jaw blown off was Hershel's wife. fwiw

Wow, wow, wow.
I loved the underlining issue of them having no problem shooting strangers as they walked out of the barn but hesitated IMMENSELY when Sophia came out. The intensity of the moment as well as the psychological issues with "Are they people or not." was just amazing.
That's why this show is as good as it is.
Like someone else said, it sucks that she was a walker, but that was the only way it could have ended. If she would have been found safe and sound, it would have been too "Disney" and turned a lot of people off.
I just hope there's a flash back/ or they explain fully what exactly happened to her.

Terrific last 5 minutes, very complex and it told us a lot about the various characters, particularly Rick and that CLEARLY showed he is the leader of the group. Can't say the 4-wk build up or whatever was necessary.
As much as Shane is kind of a loose cannon and bordering on out-of-control, you also need black & white impulsive people like that in such a situation.
Rick is right - that bunch has almost no chance of continuing to survive on its own.
As for Dale, I don't see moral victories in death. You can choose your morals, I'd choose to live. Fucking old man.

Again, they need to get off the farm. I really have no interest in watching Swiss Family Robinson in the zombie apocalypse.

I was actually waiting for him to give Shane the gun and make him do it because of what went down.
I STILL WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE DOCTOR AT THE CDC SAID TO RICK. It couldn't have been that his wife is pregnant because of his reaction to Laurie when she finally told him. It has to be something else, and I want to KNOW NOW.

Really good catch. I think the only other explanation - when you consider what's really important enough to say at that point - is someone is a carrier and showing no signs, meaning they could be critical to finding a cure. But then it's hard to believe Rick would keep that to himself as you'd want to protect that person at all cost (unless it's his wife or Carl, which is a distinct possibility). Also entirely possible that person is Rick himself, since it might explain how he survived all that in the hospital.bigkahuna;990856 wrote: I STILL WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE DOCTOR AT THE CDC SAID TO RICK. [SP]on talking dead, "Darryl" was talking as if Merle is coming back. Could have just been a bit lazy on his part, but he was asked several questions and he was definitely speaking as though Merle will be back[/SP]

Damn you! Also correct, I think, and makes sense. Although I took that scene to be more about "a husband knows" then actually having known. In retrospect, seems like that CDC scene would have been about more than someone being pregnant - does a blood test show someone is pregnant anyway? I'm not sure what the point would even have been of testing their blood, but my guess is he wouldn't have been screening for a pregnancy. The nature of it all says he would have been testing for the disease.The_Crosby_Show;990862 wrote:I thought Rick said, "I know, and I always knew." in the beginning, no?

Anybody who has read the comics or is familiar with them, knows that NO character is safe, including major ones. This show is unpredictable in terms of who dies and lives, which is part of the reason it's so damn good.
That moment to end the episode was tense as hell. The entire group froze when Sophia came out of the barn, as they were pretty much trigger happy up until that point.
Fitting that Rick, the guy who left Sophia alone in the first place, was the one to finish her off. It also showed that he is still the leader of the group, as he's willing to do the necessary task at hand.
I also thought Herschel's reaction was well done. He legitimately looked heart broken, disgusted, and shocked. It made me feel for his character as well.
I think we're going to be in for a hell of ride come February. I don't want to wait that long, but it is what it is.
Also, FWIW, it was hinted at during the episode and also got touched upon in "The Talking Dead," that nobody knew about Sophia being in the barn because Otis was the guy who would round up the walkers and bring them in. As we all know, Shane left Otis for dead before anything was even mentioned to the family about a missing girl. If Shane and Otis both made it back, Otis would have been able to say "Oh, I brought some girl back to the barn, blah blah..."
As far as Shane, I really like where his character has gone. Obviously, people familiar with the series knew this was going to happen, but he's done a great job portraying it. He's confused, belittled, and angry. It's caused his character to "snap" basically, creating the tension that's in place now within the group.
Just a fantastic episode and probably my 2nd favorite of the series overall.
