Sep 30, 2011 - Ohio St. Buckeyes running back Jaamal Berry had one hell of a Wednesday morning. According to a report in The Lantern, Ohio State's student paper, Berry got into some sort of a fight that police have termed misdemeanor assault. The report cites bruises on necks, teeth used as weapons, and a delirious Berry unable to remember how he wound up on the ground by himself. He was then admitted to and released from the Ohio State Medical Center.
It's important to note no charges have been filed, but this is intense stuff:
At about 10:25 a.m., two males were witnessed "wrestling on the ground" in the South Oval, according to the police report. The primary witness is a university employee who declined to comment, but said in the police report that Berry was muttering things such as "I don't know what is going on around me."
Coach Luke Fickell told the Columbus Dispatch the program's concern is for Berry's health and not his legal status. If this same thing occurred on a field, you'd presume a concussion until told otherwise, wouldn't you?
Berry has five touches for 19 yards this season.

Since it now appears to have been a medical issue and not a fight -- how about we hold off on jumping to conclusions until the facts come out?

Drugs or alcohol probably wasn't an issue here.

There were reports it may have been some kind of reaction to a medication or treatment, but then nothing since. I'm sure because of student privacy laws.

The university was quick to say there were no legal issues, so that tells me this was obviously not a fight or anything involving illegal substances. It will be interesting if we ever hear what really happened, given how the laws are with regard to releasing medical information.

It was a fight. The other guy had bruises on his neck. The University released the police report and it mentions the other students name, yet it blacked out the name of Berry. Seems really weird.

Funny how this story just went away once it was deteremined it was bad reaction to a legally prescribed medication. The media never reported the end of this story because it didn't fit the current "Ohio State is everything that is wrong with sports" mantra.

And no dynasty, it wasn't a fucking fight. it was a 215 lb guy, disoriented and looking for help.

So because he's disoriented it's not a fight?

If this was Notre Dame, and it was the third incidence, and he was convicted in a court of law for illegal activity, he'd be suspended for spring workouts!

Figured you'd bite lotz.;)
Truth hurts doesn't it?.

I've got no problem with Berry being suspended for "1 game" lol...if he's actually guilty. (LSU fans take note). I really wish coaches would take a stronger position against illegal or criminal activity. These are much more serious violations than the NCAA "pocket change" improper benefits that OSU will spend a million dollars defending /investigating. It seems like coaches and athletic departments are more afraid of a picayune NCAA violation than the really important stuff.

also, glad to see you can finally admit to being nothing but a troll. You need a better slogan than "I figured you'd bite." Even ncf thought up calling himself a puppet master.

What's not the truth?
...and you are the one who called me a moron.(personal attack)
I don't know what your problem is. If Berry is guilty of assault he should be suspended or kicked off the team. That is a real violation. Smoking weed/failing a drug test especially during the season....That is a real violation. Three alcohol offenses..including a DUI..that is a real violation.
What have I said that is not the truth?

I've posted it before
from the article:
The school's disciplinary arm chose not to suspend Floyd even though it was his third alcohol-related brush with the law in two years. Kelly had suspended him a short time after his arrest. He missed spring practice, but Kelly allowed him to participate in voluntary workouts this summer.
..and then reinstated him in time to get ready for the season.

So while Posey sits out a ten game suspension for selling a few hundred dollars worth of memoribilia , a round of golf( actually 6 holes)... and not being able to account for 5 hours of work,..... Michael Floyd is hauling in 57 passes for 667 yds. including 4 TDS.

I, as a good catholic boy with some ties to ND, am trying (in the grand scheme of things)to get a handle on how one kid gets a whole season wiped out while the other still plays.......
Maybe you could shed some moral wisdom on the relative punishments.
