She can read while cooking and cleaning? Impressive.

The wife he is referring to is SnotBubbles. ETB handles the cooking and cleaning, which is why the Kindle would be of no use to him.

Serious question for Kindle owners/users. Think I am going to buy one right now. For a first time user, is the regular Kindle just fine, or should I get a touch, or should I get one with a keyboard? How often would she use the keyboard, and for what?

Make sure to get a left handed Kindle so she can still stir the pot with her right hand.

Get either the touch or the keyboard (get the touch). Because while the no keyboard one will work fine lots of people like to search for specific passages or whatnot in their books. For that the touch keyboard is much better than selecting each letter with the jog dial.

I'd just get the $79 version if I were buying a new one.

I've hardly ever used the keyboard on our kindle. I don't think my wife has either.

OK. I might spring for the $99 touch, but I think I'd rather get the thing now, instead of waiting until November.

Perhaps another dumb question, but how does one rent a book from the library for the Kindle? Do you go online to download, or do you have to actually go to the library?

You forgot to mention you have to go online to a website while at the library that has the book in stock.
