Alright guys, I wouldn't allow myself to comment on this last night on here, because I knew it wouldn't be pretty. First and foremost, I want to congratulate Ashland on playing one heck of a game and really taking it to us. The following comments have nothing to do with your utter dominance of us last night. So congratulations to the Arrows and good luck the rest of the way. With that said, I really don't know if I can take watching the McCreary's run this program into the ground year-after-year, especially when the talent is there. These guys accept mediocrity and have not changed their coaching philosophies one bit over the time they've been there. I also am not aiming this at the Wooster kids....the talent is there, the work is there, they are just not put in the right position to when with this coaching staff.
There were a few Ashland fans sitting around us on the Wooster side last night, and our section had a great chat with them. They were saying exactly the same thing, that we were running the same defense against us that we have for the past 6-7 years! Bill McCreary is an absolutely horrible defensive coordinator, I wouldn't let this guy coach my son's elementary flag football teams defense. The offensive playcalling is lackluster at best, hell most of us in the stands know what plays coming 90% of the time, and if we can tell you know that the opposing team's coaches sure as hell do. We run the same pass plays, to relatively the same kid 90% of the time. It's either a streak, an out, or very rarely a slant. Problem is, you throw to the same kid all game! The fake onside kick before every kickoff is about as retarded as you get, I watched in absolute amazement in Wadsworth as we were doing this and went offside 2-3 times....what in Sam Hell is that?
In today's Daily Record, Mike McCreary is quoted as saying, "Why is our defense struggling? That's a tough question." No it's NOT. Maybe you need a community forum to let you know that your brother's defensive schemes are pathetic on a good night. We win because of our talent and in spite of your coaching philosophies. We made the playoffs two years in a row because Gantz, Hunter, etc's talent willed us there. Not because you are the 2nd coming of Vince Lombardi, or hell, even Coach MacFarland.
The chatter is there in the crowd on the Wooster side. People have seen enough of the same ridiculous game plans and approaches to the same teams and games. When is Wooster going to get wise and bring someone in here that can utilize the talent we have and that is coming up...and looks like they give a damn on the sideline? Another quote in the Daily Record today, "They moved Jones around a bunch, and they didn't do that at all the first three games. They kinda changed some things up that they've done for a long time." Oh my god...are you serious? You mean Ashland has actually adapted to the skill they have this year and made adjustments? That does have to be puzzling considering this regime does none of that.
I can't handle putting up with the McCreary's crappy philosophies and approaches to games anymore. I feel for the kids...I really do. They are the ones that suffer the most because of the ineptness of these guys. They're the ones that know they aren't being put in the right position or have the right strategies to be put in the best position to win games. I'm to the point (and I know I overheard others in the crowd last night saying the same thing) where I don't want to even waste my time or gas traveling to away games anymore. I sure as hell don't go to support the McCreary's, its for the kids and always has been, but this is now past the point of embarassment and ridiculousness. The time has come for Wooster to remove the McCreary's from the sideline. Go get somebody...anybody, that will right the ship and teach and show these kids what it takes to be a winner. Not what it takes to go 6-4 every year and be happy about it.
